The thermal function is handy for soup prep. It has great power with no issues grinding ice for specialty drinks. It also looks great on the counter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Holyrust from Super Power I've had a Vitamix and a Blentek. I loved my Blentek, it was a real work horse.....but this KitchenAid is even better. It is very solid with a heavy metal base that does NOT move when operating. It blends finer than any of the others and does a beautiful job emulsifying. The pitcher is also heavy and even insulates. The controls are super simple and give you a lot of control. You can easily change the speed while it is blending, which I love. I am so glad I bought this. I view it as a major appliance since it gets more use than my dishwasher, my oven, or my microwave. I've made soup, smoothies, dips, pate, mayonnaise, salad dressing, batters and more. A couple days ago I made dairy free chocolate hazelnut milkshakes for some guests. They were fabulous. My seven year old nephew couldn't slow down and kept getting brain freeze. One hitch: the first one I got didn't work properly (wouldn't run for more than 30 seconds at a time) so I just took it back to Williams Sonoma and they traded it for another one in stock. Bottom line is that I am sooooo glad I got it.

Mostly intend to use it for smoothies but also excited to have it for soups and other fun things I couldn’t do without a full sized blender. After a couple of weeks of use both my boyfriend and I love it! Works beautifully and looks very nice on the counter. It is really easy to use and super easy to clean as well. Very happy so far.
