"Smart Features" Remove FunctionalityWe had this range installed earlier this month (June 2021) and it wasn't until I realized that I couldn't use the meat probe UNLESS I had the KAD app installed on my phone that I knew I was in for some trouble. The app is buggy and didn't register the meat probe temps. The instruction manual for this range is so sparse, I don't know who they're marketing this towards. Here's the thing that really irks me about this range. Kitchenaid decided to put half of the functionality into the stupid app in order TO USE the range. Timer? Nope, use the app, your phone, or your microwave. Meat Probe working? Nope, the instructions tell you to go to the app (which doesn't work) and you can't dial in what temp you want from the range itself.
If you want an overpriced range that just turns on or off manually, then this is for you. All the other features they advertised aren't worth a hill of beans if you can't get the stupid phone app to work. I wouldn't recommend this range to anyone and I cannot wait to get rid of it.

Horrible oven - deeply regret the purchaseWe have had KitcheAid appliances since a kitchen renovation in 2003. Our commercial duel-fuel range recently had a part fail that is no longer made so we were left with no choice but to replace it (funny how that happens). After digesting the sticker shock of how much this range was, even on sale, we purchased it and got an extended warranty through BestBuy, which turned out to be worthless, but I will get to that in a minute. Upon delivery, my spouse and I noted that both the black enamel top surface and the stainless steel surfaces appeared cheap and easily scratched compared to the previous range. When baking pies or pizzas, the browning is uneven, with the back sections browning more than the front. We just chalked it all up to "they don't make anything like they used to syndrome" and tried not to fixate on it - we are not gourmet cooks, thankfully. Sadly though, we were in for quite the surprise after we used the self-clean feature for the first time a couple of months ago. We followed the instructions to the letter, removed the racks (we have yet to be able to figure out how to re-install the rack that "glides"). The very first time we used the oven after using the self clean, I thought I saw some burnt debris in the bottom of the oven, but upon closer inspection, it was the paint on the bottom of the oven flaking off!!!! Not only that, but there were no swirl marks all over the bottom of the oven, so I am sure that is just more paint getting ready to flake off. We called the extended warranty company about a repair and they sent a technician out who indicated that this was a common problem, there was nothing he could do and that KitchAid would say that it is not an eligible warranty repair, as it is just "cosmetic". Really? $4,000+ dollars and my paint flaking off after cleaning it once is cosmetic? Just what I want in my food - metallic paint bits being blown by the oven fan landing all over everything. I plan on contacting KitchenAid directly but am not optimistic that anything will be done about it.

Three years now and it is a great stove. We've had this in black for a number of years. Love it. It works perfectly and couldn't ask for more. And most of all, it looks great in our kitchen.
The fan isn't loud, which is nice and I really like the selector dial in the center. No buttons that get pushed when you are trying to clean a flat surface. It's a well thought out design.
