Manufacturer's Defect in Oven Cavity!I have owned this range for 4 years. After the first year I noticed cracking in the enamel on the floor of the oven cavity. I called KA to report and they said it was cosmetic and would not do anything about it. Now the finish has come off in several areas and the cracking has spread around the perimeter. It looks absolutely horrible. The flakes of enamel are blowing around inside the oven and it is no longer safe to use. KA has offered to sell me a replacement stove for $1,000 but refuses to offer a full replacement, even though this has been an obvious defect from the beginning. I also don't want to be forced to buy another range and risk the same problem again. Find another product!

Frustration Customer from
Poor performance & poor service.I bought the range and immediately found out the lighting is not working properly. It keeps getting the click sound on one of the burners. The medium and low level does work at all.
I called Kitchen Aid Service line several times. However they sent the contracted appliance technician who doesn't know how to fix the problem. He simply tell me not to use the medium to low level. My range is used within a year and under warranty but not working as it should be. It doesn't worth the price what I paid for. I am very frustrated with this range and disappointed with Kitchen Aid service.
I totally not recommend this product.

Love it!I’ve always wanted a commercial/pro style range but couldn’t justify spending the extra money on one. But I recently decided it was finally time to splurge and treat myself to something special.
I’m so proud of it. I think it gives my kitchen that high end look. I love how quickly the burners come on and the precise control of the flames. A few negatives though... I’m a tad
disappointed about the length of time it takes for the oven to heat up though, but once
it’s finally ready, it does work great.
Lastly, I wish the electronic control panel was different. It’s hard to keep clean, is super sensitive to touch. Still despite those two minor flaws, it’s

Great Cooktop & Oven Horrible Upfacing DisplayWe’ve had our range for six years. Our digital display panel has gone out on us twice. KitchenAid’s customer service is horrible and the stove is terribly expensive for services calls. We ended up dumping ours for another manufacturer.

Love itI am still getting used to my new stove-but so far love everything about it. I love that the grates on the top go all the way across making a flat surface to move a hot pan off the burner or oven to. I used the oven for the first time yesterday and the temperature was true to the recipe. Love the modern industrial style. Took me a minute to get used to the power of the burners-I can boil a big pot of pasta water in just a few minutes. Cleaning around the burners is very easy. Have not tried the convection oven yet. There is no storage for cookie sheets/baking pans but I just store them in the oven and remove them when I use the oven so it hasn't been a problem. All around great stove.

Great rangeFirst, I love the sturdy look of this dual range. I like that each burner has it's own rack - ease of cleaning. They are heavy but very sturdy. The knobs for the burners are a great size for ease of turning on or off. All items for each burner can be easily removed for washing. I love the black base as opposed to stainless steel. I have owned GE Profile & Dacor - not user friendly as far as cleanup. I do have one con. It seems that the oven light comes on easily if oven handle is even slightly pulled. Great range and highly recommend.

Face Scratched Twice from Factory and Scratches EaI purchased this unit directly from Whirlpool. First unit had scratches on the top of the faceplate from the factory. I thought this may have been due to the delivery team, but upon seeing how the replacement unit was packaged, it is obvious that the damage is due to the way they're packaged for shipment. The second unit also came with similar damage.
There is no protective plastic wrapped around the top for shipping and the heavy grate packages are resting directly on the faceplate. This results in scratches and swirls right out of the box.
Inevitably all of these units will end up scratched, but it should be the consumer making the damage, not coming that way from the factory.
Additionally, even simple cleaning with a sponge results in swirling and additional damage to the appearance of the stainless steel.
For $5k, there has got to be a better way of producing and packaging these face plates to avoid this type of damage and a more durable product to maintain the shine and not scratch easily.

Great rangeVery good gas range. Heavy and well built. One thing that could be better is the space in back for the gas hookup and electric outlet. It took my plumber several hours to get it to go all the way back to my backsplash tile. It is fine now so be sure to make sure the hookups are in the right place.

Just OkayBe very careful of the bottom of the range. I have it in stainless steel. Within the first 2 days, my toe got caught under the middle of the bottom. The bottom of the range is SUPER sharp. I left a 10 ft trail of blood!! It tore all of the skin of the top of my toe.
We ended up cutting a rubber piece to form around the bottom. Very disappointing. I miss my Electrolux
The oven cooks very fast, & the grates aren't as easy to move pots around. You also have to be careful of where the steam comes out of the oven. Right at the hip, or about the same height as a 3 year olds eye. It works however, so I guess thats a plus

KDRS407VSS is a VERY nice rangeUpgraded to this from a Whirlpool Super Capacity 465. Same burner layout but more powerful burners. Sliding racks work perfectly (and buy an extra one as they are really inexpensive). Bread proofing is a tremendous feature if you live where the house gets chilly in the winter. My only complaint is the burner knobs have more rotation than flame adjustment. You can still adjust the flame to any level you want it's just that if a knob rotates 220 degrees you'd expect the flame to change height for the whole travel.
