It Doesn't Work After Less than Two YearsI get the open/close door message when trying to use the microwave. The interior light won't come on and unit doesn't work. I'm frustrated to see online that this is a fairly common problem. Needless to say it is out of warranty, but more painful is the time to figure out the problem, find a replacement part, find a repairman, stay home from work to wait for the repairman, oh, and the inability to use the unit while all of this is happening. If I wanted to come home from work and cook dinner from scratch, I wouldn't have purchased a microwave. First world problem, I know, but very annoying. If KA has known about this problem for years, why isn't it fixed yet?

Failed twice in 1 yearI bought this a little over a year ago. Had dealer replace door sensors and keypad control board a couple months later because it would not operate with door open error. Now it a couple months out of warrantee and it's doing the same thing again. Will work gone for a while then refuse to turn on because it thinks the or is open. Dealer reached out to kitchenaid who will not do anything about it. Dealer is largest in Chicago area, they are going to diagnose it and see what can be done. At least I am getting good service from them!
Normally sending repairman plus parts will practically cost as much as new one.

Poor Product SupportMy wife and bought a complete set of kitchenaid appliances when we bought a new home two years ago, including this microwave oven. It stopped working for the same reason 2 times and was repaired under warranty. Now it has stopped working for the same reason a third time. I called customer service and requested the unit be replaced since it had broken down 3 times and was told that, since it is now out of warranty, we’ll have to contribute to the repair or buy a new unit at a discount. We’ve always believed Kitchenaid supplied good products and stood behind them. Apparently that’s not true anymore.

Not the quality one expects from KitchenAidMicrowave is 3 years old. Past year have had door error issues, which we could fix by carefully cleaning the latches. Apparently this is a common problem with this model. Now the microwave WILL NOT TURN OFF! KitchenAid's troubleshooting web site is of no help. If you click on any part other than a light bulb, clicking on "click here for more information" brings up the same message: "Call us to schedule a service appointment,"
Will the charge for service call be credited toward purchase of a replacement microwave if that is required. Very disappointed with quality for price we paid.

Looks greatI bought this microwave because I have changed out all my kitchen appliances to be stainless steel and this was just the last one. It is good to have a microwave that matches the rest of the kitchen. I don't really use the microwave for much except for reheating things, heating water for instant oatmeal and popping microwave popcorn. But it does all those things well. I didn't even know it has 7 sensor functions until you told me in the e-mail that asked me to rate it. I guess I should figure out what those 7 functions do. That might be cool. And I could not open the Terms and Privacy Statement, so I could not possibly agree with it.

Great microwave when workingOur builder installed this microwave. It worked great for about 1.5 years until it melted a hole in the plastic cover that prevents food from going up into the magnetron. No problem, I replaced the plastic piece myself.
However, 3 months later, now the microwave is not heating. The timers, lights, turntable, etc all work. You can hear the usual noise it makes if you reduce the power (like its turning the magnetron on and off). However, still no heat.
I'm writing this review while I've been waiting over a half hour for on the phone for customer service. That's horrible. Its tough to cook food or boil water without heat :(

Great microwave-tricky install!Love our new microwave from KitchenAid. We've been loyal KitchenAid buyers for several years now and always pleased with our appliances. We replaced a 12 year old KitchenAid over-the-range microwave with a new unit and are happy with it. The old one was much easier to install than the new one, however. My husband installed the old one with the template provided and it was a breeze. This one was much more complicated and made us wonder why we didn't pay the extra $$ to have it installed. The mounting bracket is flimsy and we had to drill into the cabinet above to hang it. They should have stayed with the old design for installation!

Terrible fan function and noiseI replaced my previous KitchenAid over the stove, micro fan combo with this model. I am extremely disappointed in the fan. I did the research and felt that the 400 uptake was going to be adequate. However, it does not service the front two burners. The steam goes all over the front of the microwave dripping down, and even on cabinets! Basically, exhaust is useless with the exception of the back two burners. The fan is also very loud compared to my previous model. The functions of the microwave are adequate. But, again I am so extremely disappointed that the fan unit doesn’t function as well as the other one did. I would not recommend this product an all.

Best Money Spent on a MicrowaveI love the features on this microwave. My husband wanted it because it matched everything we had already purchased. We had a microwave that worked ut he convinced we should spend the extra money and replace what we had. He was so right. Not only does it help to make our kitchen look very clean and professional, it also has some features I love. The fan comes on automatically if the temp from the range top gets to high, the tone for letting know it is complete is soft and multi-toned so it is easy on the ears. The melt, thaw and various preset settings are perfect for our lifestyle and how we use it. Overall it is a win for us!

Lasted just over a yearWe loved this microwave, but at six months the display went out. It was fixed under the warranty. Unfortunately it is now not working at all. We are getting the open/close the door error that other people are complaint about. We reset the microwave daily for a week and that helped it limp along. It is now completely useless. We called customer support and we were told it would cost $250 to have a service contractor come out and look at it with. It guarantee that it can be fixed. We are highly disappointed in this microwave. Clearly there is an issue with this model since other people have experienced the same problem. A microwave of this price should last more than a year or two.
