Rated 1 out of 5 by AnnieMixer from Looks Great - Poor Quality We purchased our combo microwave/hood two years ago and we love the design, but we don't love the problems. The handle gets extremely hot, but we can use our oven mitts and overlook this detail. What we can't overlook is the problem with our door. We figure there is a sensor in the part of the microwave where the top door tab goes into when closed. The keypad keeps saying open/close as if the door has not been shut properly. We even pushed at the opening once and it seemed to work. The sensor wasn't registering closed today and we pushed the opening and now it doesn't work at all! There aren't any lights on the keypad or anything. Great look but poor quality.

In May 2018, after the over-the-range-light at the bottom of the microwave burned out, the light would not turn off or dim setting after replacing bulb. I paid KitchenAid Service $175 to fix this in May, and now in July (2 months later). Same problem after the bulb burned out again. KitchenAid wants me to pay another $175 to fix the same problem again two months later. Who would pay $175 every two months for a microwave light switch? Whatever's wrong with this unit, I've already paid to fix it. I bought this and matching dishwasher from KitchenAid, but with this level of quality and support I'm finished with KitchenAid products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by tom824 from Automatic Sensor Failed and MicrowaInterior Burned We had been very pleased with the quiet operation and venting features of this microwave purchased in December 2020 until a week ago. We attempted for the first time to cook a potato using the automatic sensor function. The function failed, the potato caught fire, the plastic cover on the top of the interior of the microwave melted, and the microwave is beyond repair. The one-year warranty had expired two months earlier. We feel that the automatic sensor function failure warrants a poor review of this model with serious concerns for the danger of a house fire as a possible consequence of the poor sensor function. We have read a review recounting the exact same issue on a website seeking consumer reviews of microwaves.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Joe Cor from Deserves a 5 star but I got a lemon Large microwave with even and fast heating capability. I would like to give 5 stars, but my first one stopped heating inside of the 1 year warranty, but then when the techs came out for whatever reason decided to work. A few months later and out of warrantee it stopped heating for good that time and was fixed, month after that it stopped again and was fixed (at this point obviously a manufacture issue) The place I purchased all my appliances at, Jensen Akins Hardware and Appliance just ordered me a new one and replaced at no cost. I cannot say enough good things about them. The new microwave has a slightly different look but looks and works great!

Rated 2 out of 5 by JHG2 from Woefully inadequate hood fan I bought this product a month ago. I had the previous model so am knowledgeable about how the fan should work. This fan runs but it does not draw any vapors from under the microwave. It doesn't matter if the fan is on or off, steam from boiling water billows out to the front of the microwave. I assumed there was an error during install (e.g., a cap or plastic left in place) and had a technician come out. He said it worked as designed. I called Kitchen Aid and asked if there was anyone there who could confirm based on the video that this is how the product is supposed to work. They said no. They rely solely on their technicians.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Donna jf from Great microwave! This is a really sharp addition to our kitchen. I needed to get a new refrigerator, which was a built in. After purchasing the KitchenAid refrigerator, I was in love. Nobody likes to spend money on appliances but if you have to, KitchenAid is the best brand for your money. The microwave matches perfectly and I also found matching cabinet and drawer pulls. My Kitchen looks “redone” without spending thousands of dollars. The microwave works great. Some reviews say it sets up too high and can’t see food cooking. Mine is perfect although we did have to cut out the granite backsplash to make it fit. Highly recommend this microwave!

Rated 5 out of 5 by bfdiver from Love it! We were needing a replacement for a microwave that was initially installed in 1996. Love that the filters are hidden so you don't have to look at the greasy fan at the top of the microwave. The fan is great! We were frequently setting off smoke alarms in the kitchen with the old fan whenever we cooked. So far, even when using cast iron, we haven't set it off! We currently have an older Kitchenaid range in the black. The black stainless with the solid black window on the microwave goes well with it. Still learning the sensor functions, but so far it works well, especially when reheating leftover Thanksgiving dinner.

After the microwave was installed, it was only functional for 11 days. The seller (Best Buy) kept me on hold for over 3 hours only to tell me they would not assist, and that I had to contact Kitchenaid for support. The technician will arrive tomorrow, and will also looking be looking at the door which is a bit crooked, and does not close well. I am replacing my kitchen 1 appliance at a time and have already done the microwave, refrigerator, and dishwasher. If Kitchenaid gives me a hard time on the microwave, and I will certainly buy the doubleoven from a different time OEM.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Aeherb from Very disappointed! Do not suggest buying I am getting the “open/close door” error along with interior light flickering. I purchased this with the complete kitchen appliance suite in late Nov. 2017. I am a single user of this appliance so it’s not used hard, either. I’m very disappointed as I considered kitchenaid appliances to be of good quality. Warranty expired. I certainly expected more from your company. Appears that this issue is not an isolated problem. I have not called for service as it appears others stated that it’s not worth the price to fix and searching trouble shooting fixes confirms it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mick and Mick from Quality Appliance and easy to install I replaced my GE microwave with a new GE microwave. The GE replacement was a piece of JUNK. GE sold its business to China so beware and stay away from GE. The kitchenaid microwave is a quality appliance. You will notice the quality and workmanship as soon as you unpack it. Micro features are about the same as others but quality far superior. I did extensive research. Inside has a stainless steel look which is very easy to clean and NO cardboard wafer card.
