Owned it less than 3 years and it's brokenWe bought this almost 3 years ago. As of today it no longer heats up. This has to be a manufacturing defect but Kitchenaid told me that we are on the hook for labor but they will cover 'some of the parts', of course the most important part- the magnetron is not included. I talked to a technician he hasn't looked at it yet but gave me an estimate of $600 to $800 to repair it. We paid $1,000 for it thinking we were buying a quality appliance, instead we got a piece of junk that is now usable only as a boat anchor. It's funny that car manufacturers own up to their mistakes and fix problems for free with a recall, but appliance manufacturers ignore their problems and only fix them when they get sued.

Beautiful, accurate, and stylish microwave! This unit finishes off my kitchen nicely. I love the look of the KitchenAid black stainless series, and the matching handle with signature red end cap is the nut. The microwave itself is precise, with all the buttons, features, fan speeds, and lighting you need. This unit also has a convection feature with a removable metal shelf so it's actually another actual oven not just microwave. Just wish I didn't have to remove the metal shelf when not in convention mode - why not manufacture the metal shelf in microwave-safe materials? Anyway, not a big deal just won't use that feature that much. Overall this is quality at its finest and would buy it again and again.

Having heating issuesI am having issues with this unit heating evenly EX. cooking bacon like my wife has done for the past 30 years in a microwave either Kenmore or KitchenAid and never had a problem now with this new unit half the bacon is cooked and the other half is raw called the hotline and the lady had no clue.Prior to that tried to cook a frozen item based on package instructions like I have done numerous times in the past and it wouldn't even melt the cheese. P.S. The only difference is this unit is a convection unit ! Maybe someone from KitchenAid that knows more about these units will contact me. I wont hold my breath.

Great Microwave/Convection OvenI'm generally very happy about this microwave oven.
As a microwave it's perfect! The convection oven though I wish it would bake more evenly. If you're baking a cake it wouldn't matter too much but if you're baking a tray of cupcakes or a sheet of cookies, because you can't really rotate inside the oven, you'd notice that the bakes on the left side of oven gets more baked. You can't interrupt the cycle like you would with a traditional oven, so you'll need to cancel and restart if you want to rotate the tray, which would lower the temperature. I think this is a common issue with Microwave/Convection Oven though, not unique to this model.

Good solid convection microwaveGood unit. Microwave is extremely quiet. Convection cooking works very well. Exhaust fan is loud but it is supposed to be since it is moving a lot of air. Only 2 "issues" are not really with the microwave itself:
1) Paper template for back bracket installation was incorrect. One side was about 1/2 inch off. Otherwise installation was easy.
2) We installed in a 36' gap and were not aware previous GE "gap fillers" were not compatible. The gap fillers are very expensive and are 'universal' not custom to this appliance. They only attach to the cabinet...not the microwave itself. I like the GE gap fillers much better. I am still working to find the best solution.

Worthless user GuideDO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, unless you are psychic. We just bought it and discovered that the users guide and instructions that come with it are essentially worthless. There is no detailed manual tha identifies the features of the oven and how to use them. For example, when you press the defrost button, it brings up 4 presets (to defrost meat, bread, etc.) There is no apparent way to defrost manually, say for example to defrost a Healthy choice meal. If there is, the User Guide DOESN'T SAY. I contacted Kitchenaide chat support and all they did was tell me that the user guide is all there is. We are deeply disappointed. Same problemk with the matching dishwasher.

It is a lovely looking GUTLESS WONDERThis microwave is very nice aesthetically; but beauty is only skin deep. From a utilitarian perspective, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND it. (1) It is grossly underpowered (especially given its price point). It takes at least 3 minutes to get a mug of water hot enough to make tea; at least two minutes to melt a stick of butter. (2) If you install it at the recommended height, and boil a pot of water (like for pasta or making soup) the steam from the stovetop will collect on the front of the microwave while the exhaust fan is on its maximum setting. I don't mean a little bit of water, I mean coated in water and dripping.

After 3 Years Of Normal Use (no kids)I have loved this microwave for the last 3 years. It is used by 2 middle-aged adults so no rough treatment. I have had microwaves dating back to 1975. The last microwave I had was still working after 8 years but remodeled kitchen adding this hood combo over stove. Today, one of the 2 door switches has failed and sometimes it will turn on and sometimes it won't (mostly won't). I can 'mess with' the bad switch and it might turn on but usually just says to Open/Close door. This is not a problem I would have anticipated with a very expensive microwave. BTW, it is not covered on the standard warranty as I just called. Sincerely disappointed.

KitchenAid quality not what it once wasPurchased all kitchenaid appliances in this series for our remodeled kitchen in February 2020. Refrigerator had to be replaced 10 mos. later after $5 LED light in freezer failed and wiring harness broke when technician tried to replace. This microwave made strange noises from day one and failed after just shy of first year. Magnetron was replaced under warranty. Less than 10 mos. later it has failed again, and can’t get a service tech out to look at it until the middle of January! Perfect timing just before the holiday season. KitchenAid used to mean QUALITY. This is evidently NOT the case today! I can’t recommend KitchenAid anymore!

Wonderful microwave, easy to clean and functionalI purchased this microwave several months ago and it's great. The size is nice, it's deep and looks great. The response of the touch pad buttons aren't perfect, but 98% of the time respond when touched. My only complaint is I wish the lighting was all LED, and more around the 5000K-6500K color instead of the 2300-2700K color. Overall, it performs well. The convection part is great and large enough to fit a 9x13 pan, and possibly bigger. The second thing I would prefer is to have the "manual convect" selection as one of the first options when scrolling through the presets, instead of at the end as I assume Manual is what most people will select.
