We've had our Kitchenaid mixer for a couple of years now and have taken up baking bread about 2 to 4 times per month, so our dough hook gets a good amount of use. So far, I have zero issues. It's been a great accessory, and unlike other reviewers, I've not had any issues with chipping. I should note, I'm not the most gentle home-cook and have banged this hook in the sink washing it many a time including just this afternoon. Maybe there was a bad batch of these made? In either case, I'm a thoroughly satisfied customer!

Much like others, I have resorted to making most breads and pastries for my family instead of hunting for them in stores due to COVID-19. I noticed my dough hook started chipping and like other reviewers, I stopped using it because I was worried these pieces would get into the food. After reading reviews, it seems there is a flaw in the manufacturing of this product. Given this is a pricy brand, it is disappointing that the quality is poor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Cpk22 from Chipped coating after only couple uses The dough hook chipped on the second or third use. I had to throw away the dough because pieces were in the dough and now have to buy another (won’t buy this one). I see reviews from 4 and 5 years ago with the same issue and clearly they haven’t fixed it!
