I never had the patience for making fresh bread but it's a snap with the stand mixer. I've made my own sandwich bread, jalapeno cheese bread, hamburger buns and tortillas.

I bought this mixer because of the dough hook. It does what I can't do beautifully. My rolls are the hit of family dinners and holidays. The attachments work wonders on batters, cookies, crusts, custard, whipped cream and various savory items as well. Fully intend to treat myself to a pasta extruder attachment someday. Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy breadmaker from Functional & Beautiful [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I LOVE my new mixer! I make bread couple times a week and it makes that process so much easier. I got the dark blue and ordered the ceramic bowl with big blue flowers so it's a beautiful addition to my kitchen, almost like a piece of art. Love it!
