If there’s any observation it’s that you really have to cook on high for a few hours to get food hot and bubbly. Then you can reduce temp . My daughter noticed the same thing . Still love this crock pot and it’s not an issue

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've used this a few times over the last few weeks and it cooks with even heat all around the insert, which is different than my old slow cooker that started scorching on one side. I've checked the temperature at the different settings on the new unit and they are rock solid over time. I haven't quite figured out which setting is the equivalent of my "high and low" selection on my old slow cooker (I never measured the temps on my old cooker), so there's a learning curve to get things to turn out the same as my old cooker - sans the scorching part. The exterior of the new unit runs much cooler than my old one, which is a plus. I did my research before purchasing the Kitchenaid, and my experience thus far matches the high reviews it received. My only complaint is that it has a smaller volume than my old cooker so my recipes need to be adjusted.
