Really works as advertised[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I loved my old antique toastmaster, purchased at a home sale in 1971, but it was limited to size of item toasted. I loved that I would hear a click prior to being finished. The toast was always perfect! My husband wanted a new toaster that could accommodate linger and thicker breads, so I researched the internet and picked the 4 slice long slot toaster with high lift lever. It is a perfect replacement. I love the versatility the toaster has to offer. I could not have made a better choice. It looks great sitting on the counter and my husband loves it. I look like a hero!

Dual lever[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love Kitchen Aid products but not planning to keep this one unfortunately. There is only one lever so if toasting only 1 or 2 items, both sides heat up. This also gets extremely hot and you must pull away from under cabinet before each use. If you toast bread and then do a second batch, they get darker each time even if you don't change setting. Many times the edges of 2nd and 3rd use are burned if toasting items back to back for larger gatherings. I do like the defrost feature for frozen waffles.

Quality toaster for all types of breads![This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve had this toaster for about two weeks, and I love it! I make toast almost every day. I use a wider whole grain bread that I used to have to bend a bit to get into my old toaster. That is no longer the case! Each slot on this KitchenAid toaster is wide enough for two regular slices of bread or one extra wide slice. I found it easy to use, the toast can be lifted when done, it has a defrost feature, a bagel feature, a reheat feature, and looks very nice with my stainless and black kitchen appliances. The only thing I would recommend when purchasing this toaster, is to consider how much counter space you have. If you are going from a 2 slice toaster to this one, the larger footprint might surprise you. However, I would definitely recommend this toaster to anyone looking for a good quality product that can toast wider slices or 4 regular slices at a time.

Amazing Intuitive FeaturesI received this toaster for free from KitchenAid in exchange for use and review. This toaster is so amazing. I love bagels for breakfast and my bagels use to get over toasted in the center and bottom in my regular toaster. This KitchenAid has a bagel button and actually knew where to toast - upper, lower half, or middle. You can actually see the heating coils moving around the toasting area. It's intuitive. The most perfectly toasted bagel I've ever had. I also love the varying shades of toasting. Works for bollitos, bagels, and toaster strudels are perfect. Great product! Thanks, KitchenAid

Toasts unevenly…Every. Single. Time.Toasts one side of the bread while barely toasting the other side of the bread. Toasts bottom and middle while not toasting the top of bread. KitchenAid sent me a new toaster on the off chance the first toaster was defective. Same terrible toasting results with the replacement toaster.

Not as good as our old one[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had the same toaster for at least 12 years and was so good and lasted so long we purchased the same model that has been updated. Not as good as the old model which for one had a dial with numbers for toast level. This has a sliding bar that we can never seem to get in the same place so the toast is either not toasted enough or burnt. Also, the bread is toasted unevenly some parts are toasted some barely toasted on the same slice.

Why Change a Good ThingMy sister bought me this for Christmas and I was excited to use it the first time. But for some reason they decided to reverse the lever knobs from every other toaster I have ever owned in 55 years.
The round knob is on the up-and-down lever and the traditional thumb lever is used for the lighter-darker toast settings. It’s like reversing the steering wheel in your car with the shifter knob. Why? What do you gain reversing a tried and true method that everyone is used to. That and the little icons for the other settings like “bagel” or “defrost”. You can barely see what they are let alone be able to intuitively use them without having the manual at the ready.
Bottom line is it makes good toast but put the knobs back where they are supposed to be and label things better.

A rare FAIL from KitchenaidThe nice design and roomy slots just don't make up for the poor performance of this toaster. It toasts unevenly and the controls feel cheap. It's a "Made In China" toaster with the Kitchenaid name on it. I threw the box away so unfortunately can't return it,
but please don't waste your money on this one.

Great for bagels[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received the product for free from KitchenAid as long as I was willing to review it. Have had the toaster for roughly 3 weeks now. So far I'd have to say I really like the toaster. It's easy to use and has plenty of toasting options. My wife and kids like their toast light and I like mine dark. I eat bagels 2 or 3 times a week and this toaster handles them like a champ. Fits a large New York bagel with no issue and will even toast it evenly when it starts frozen. It is a large toaster so make sure you have the room for it before deciding to buy.

Slight toasting only[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have toast with coffee regularly, using many different types of bread. In the past I’ve had KitchenAid toasters so really didn’t consider anything else since I’d always been very happy. This toaster, however has a much less intense heating element. Peeking inside the slot during toasting revealed only a slightly orange glow…..nothing like my previous KitchenAid toasters. I find myself RE toasting the bread so that I can get a true toast, even though it’s set at the darkest level. I do like the styling, size, and features. It’s especially helpful that the cord stays tucked away so that I’m not dealing with excess on my counter.
