I wasn't convinced it was working properly as my breathing wasn't toasting evenly and not all of the internal elements were glowing red. After doing some research I understood that newer technology means that not all the elements need to glow red. I also now understand that the varying levels of colour are as much to do with the bread as they are the actual toaster, as moisture and thickness both play a big part in the slices colour. I've learnt to use the take a peek function to see how it's toasting! I love that I can toast my homemade bread without flipping and turning it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Nanna from I love the long skinned footprint on my counter but the toas [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for a Christmas present and threw out my old kitchen aid toaster that I had for a very long time. It still toaster great but it was a little tattered looking. The new one looked beautiful and was long and skinned also. The toasting part of this is sadly lacking. On three you get hot bread and if you turn it to for it burns badly. No adjustment. My grandchildren used to head right to the toaster when they came over, but no more. They don't like this one . I feel I threw out a better one after twenty plus years than I have sry, I would not recommend this. I love kitchen Aid but not this. Now I am stuck

Rated 2 out of 5 by Lenny from Not very happy right now [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just tried the toaster for the first time on 2 pieces of supermarket (Levy's) rye bread. For some reason the bottom of the slice is not getting toasted (see photo). All of the filaments appear to be glowing, so I am not sure why this is happening. As a separate issue I successively set the toaster on #3, #4 and #5 (the highest number is #6, then "dark"). Each time, the toast popped out without "a tan". I had to push it back down for a second go at it. (I need to experiment more concerning this issue). Finally, the metal outer shell of the toaster gets very HOT. This concerns me.

Besides the great appearance, the fact that that it has long slots with the ability to raise the toast to see the level of toasting, takes up less counterspace that the conventional four slice toasters, has the controls up front and actually makes toast the way I prefer has won me over. The sides of this toaster do not get hot which is a great feature in itself. The plus in all this is that it is a KitchenAid appliance that has a reputation for quality. Look no further if you like long slices of Texas size toast as I do.

I replaced it because I had a kitchen renovation, and you know how that snowballs. The 4 slice toaster is attractive, has settings for bagels, reheat, keep warm, and defrost. There is a high lift lever to raise the toast, so no need to jam a knife down it to lift the toast. A pleasant alarm sounds when the toast is ready, and an easy bottom crumb tray pulls out to easily clean. My old toaster was usually shaken upside down over the sink! So, I am thrilled with this one. The reviews mention the inconsistent toasting. True, the toast is not perfectly browned, but that doesn't matter to me.

After seeing the KA toaster in a high-end department store, I decided to purchase it because I knew it would look great on my counter. I love that the controls are in the front and I really like the bagel button. After toasting my first bagel and having the wrong side get toasted I figured out what I was doing wrong because the toaster slice space doesn't say which way to put the bread in. All'she well now. Thank you, Kitchen Aid, for making such a great product.

I love the long and wide slots which seem to accomodate any bread I've used so far. The lift and look lever is a great feature to have. I will say, I wish it had a smaller footprint on the counter, but the stainless is really attractive. So far the browning is fairly even and the bagel and defrost features are nice, too. The beep is loud, which some object to, but is okay for my household. I think I got my money's worth. My last long slice toaster was a different brand. It wasn't quite as expensive, nor did it toast quite as evenly. Also only lasted 1 year almost to the day. Hopefully KitchenAid will last longer!

Rated 2 out of 5 by sjbens from Looks beautiful but performs poorly I purchased this 2 months ago and regret not returning it within 30 days. It looks beautiful on my counter next to my stand mixer in the same color. It has all the settings I wanted and the capacity to toast 2 or 4 regular slices or 2 elongated slices of bread. Bagels were a tighter fit, but still acceptable. Unfortunately, it toasts bread unevenly in any of the configurations. When toasting 2 slices in the slots/positions shown in the directions, one side is half-toasted and the other side barely toasted at all. I should've believed all the reviews and recommendations, but I've always loved my KitchenAid appliances, large and small. I guess it will end up in a thrift store.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Love kitchen aid appliances from Disappointed [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought it because my 10 year old kitchen aid 2 slice toaster broke. Like the slim design but will toast one side ok and barely the other side. After we toast first set of bread, on the 2nd batch of bread, the toaster gets too hot and burns the bread. Tried higher setting for first batch then we have to turn it way down for the 2nd batch. The cord is not totally stored under the unit, the plug sticks out awkwardly. My old 2-sliced kitchen aid cord and plug was totally stored under unit. I bought this toaster since ALL my other appliances are kitchen aid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by wallfam6 from Works perfect every time. Best feature is it beeps I love this toaster. I had waited 3 months for a different toaster from Kitchenaid that was on back order. I was tired of waiting and was hesitant to purchase this model because the reviews weren't as good as the original toaster I had ordered. I am so glad I got this one instead. The best feature is it beeps when you toast pops. I also love how it toast evenly and perfectly the first time.
