Waste of money
I bought a 2-pack of filter #4. Before replacing the filter, I tested the water from the refrigerator with a TDS meter and got a reading of 175 PPM.
After replacing the filter with one of the new filters and running 4 gallons of water through the filter, I tested the water again and got a reading of 169 PPM.
Using the same meter, I tested my tap water and got a reading of 165 PPM.
I also tested spring water from a bottle (Poland Springs) and got a reading of 31 PPM which is in the range for purity generally found by other testers of that product.
So, in short, the OEM $50 refrigerator mounted filter doesn’t seem to remove any dissolved solids from tap water. I wasted $100.

Low water pressure after replacing filter
Poor KitchenAid refrigerator filter. I replaced the filter one year ago and the water pressure was diminished significantly. The ice maker still, surprisingly, produced ice. The water dispenser was rarely used due to the low pressure. I replaced the old filter recently with another KitchenAid filter and once again the water pressure was still too low. After reading reviews showing other people had the same issue, I called the number that was listed and spoke with a man who was not helpful at all and was borderline combative. I said a few choice words and hung up realizing the conversation was not productive. I guess I will be using a generic brand filter henceforth.

Garbage!
I used KitchenAid's model number look up which directed me to these filters. I ordered two to have a backup for the next time. Well, they arrive... and they do not work. Extremely low water flow. I tried every troubleshooting step and nothing worked. I went and picked up a pack of the generic filters that the previous owners had in the fridge and it fixed the problem immediately. Best part... there doesn't seem to be a return option for the filters, so I am stuck with $100 of worthless filters.
Save your money, buy generic.

Poor water taste
When we moved to our new house we changed the filter and I ordered these directly from Kitchen Aid for our Kitchen Aid fridge. The water from my tap tastes better than the water through this filter. It tastes like chemicals and chlorine. I tried to call with no luck and when I tried to do a return it didn’t give me the option for accessory - just appliances. I waited a few months to see if it would get better (used it regularly just to keep the water flowing - didn’t drink it) but it still tasted awful when I tried it last night. So now I’m out $100 and need to buy a new water filter system to have drinkable water. Plus I have an extra filter I now can’t (and won’t) use.

Filter Works Well
After reading a previous review, I decided to test my water quality using this filter. Using a TDS tester, the KitchenAid water was 41 ppm, tap water was 66 ppm and bottled Icelandic Alkaline water was 56 ppm. I was pleasantly surprised that my filtered water using from the refrigerator was so good. Happy to know this!

Website is junk, products are (now) junk
I really tried to order a water filter but after I entered ordered all of information, the website just spun a circle for about half a second and stayed on the same page. I am done with KitchenAid. This used to be a dependable company but my guess is that in the pursuit of cutting costs, you damaged your company products and reputation. I am done - I will never buy another KitchenAid product. (Oh, my rant goes far beyond the problem of ordering a water filter. Your products are not what they used be and this was the final straw.)

Crisp clean water
City tap water is terrible and full of leads & containments! We just replaced our filter in our KitchenAid refrigerator at the beginning of summer so I was hyped to receive this because it's time for a new one! After all this hot summer mess outside we go through a lot of water and ice. I love the purity that the filter brings! It's so clean & crisp tasting. We haven't drank straight from our tap in YEARS. Bottled water becomes expensive and the waste of the plastic bottles bother me too, but now I can save some of those and just refill them from the fridge for the on-the-go moments.

Fantastic product
I received this KitchenAid Refrigerator Water Filter 4 (KAD4RXD1) from Influenster to review, and I must say, it's been a game changer!

Filters do a good job...for 6 weeks
I bought a pair of KitchenAid refrigerator water filters (#4, KAD4RXD1) in June. I used the first one to replace my existing filter at the end of September, and the 2nd was used to replace the filter again today! We are a family of two people. How can that be? There is no construction going on near us - we understood when that happened. Six weeks is an incredibly short amount of time for a $50 filter.
