Disappointed that there wasn't a big warning on the bowl that whatever you put on it to make it shiny in production can come off looking like the metal's melted into your mix! I was making royal icing for Xmas cookies and had to throw out the whole batch, then run to the store & spend $15 for pre-made that didn't taste as good, because I didn't know this was "common" and didn't have time to make more after I spent 40 minutes researching and another 45 minutes scrubbing my knuckles raw with bar keepers friend, and a baking soda paste to get it clean. Maybe my opinion will change when I can use it again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Annabelle from Two Different Colors :( I was so excited to get my new mixer but when I unpacked it I noticed that the cap on the end of the tilt-head was a different color than the rest of the mixer. I purchased the Truffle color but the end cap is just a gray color. I contacted the retailer where I ordered it from and that color was no longer available online or a store near me so exchanging it wasn't an option and returning it meant I probably wouldn't get the same price in the future. Kitchen Aid was unable to help me because I didn't purchase it through them. I opted to keep it but am disappointed in the quality control given the price of the mixers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Sunshine from having issues I have had this machine several months and used it a lot for holiday cooking. Initially the beater was hinting the sides. I read the instructions for trouble shooting this problem and adjusted the screw. Well it never seemed right. For Christmas I received the glass bowl which I thought was universal for this model. But I can't seem to get it adjusted. I have gone from the most tighten to the most loose adjust a little bit each time. but still it seems the bowl is sitting in the wrong spot.. I had my last one for 10 years and never had issues. I have since had the old kitchen repaired and it works wonderful. Can't say the same for the newer one.

For some reason I am not getting quality mixers I exchanged mine four times before settling on the one I kept. All of them rattle and shake at head of the mixer. Not matter how much I tighten the screw it's still shakes up and down when mixing dough. The one I kept is a little better but still shakes when I mix dough. Also I have to keep tightening it when I use it. But other than the shaking it does mix well. I would think for the price of these mixers they would be better quality. Certainly not the quality from 20yrs ago.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Lenao83 from Love it, but... So... I have always dreamed of getting this mixer, and finally it was in my possession. I bake a lot! So I thought it was a savior, not quite. It’s very very heavy, you can only use the bowl which is a bit inconvenient if you need to mix ingredients. You need to buy extra mixing bowls and it has to be kitchen aid because otherwise it won’t fit in the mixer stand. The whisk has to be adjust to make sure it reaches bottom of bowl. For some reason, even thought it comes with the cover to protect from splatter, I still get splatter everywhere, especially when making whipped cream or merengue. So besides the downs, it’s a beautiful piece, everyone has complented it for its beauty.

I have made my own bread and cookies for decades and I LIKE hand-mixing things with a trusty wooden spoon. A mixer seemed to me something that just loaded up the dishwasher with too many bits and pieces. I LOVE this mixer. It makes the most amazing bread dough, cakes, and cookies. I am using it almost daily and really enjoying it. It is strong, quiet and does a superb job. Not too many bits and pieces either. Just perfect.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Naya from My planetary head cracked the first day of unboxing I ordered this item over a month ago and only used it a handful of times, the first machine squeaked loudly and overheated quickly so I asked for a replacement, the day I unbox and begin using the replacement the area that rotates cracks and deposits metal shavings into my dough. I was making bread dough, to clarify, I wasn't trying to beat rocks or molasses, it was very light bread dough. I thought this brand was supposed to be solid and these machines have a reputation of being tough, but nope, I got handed two defective machines back to back, what are the odds.

Rated 3 out of 5 by dtocco from Great! ....except for the pouring shield Got this as a Christmas gift and have since used it to make 3 different types of cookies. It works great, just like my mom's kitchen aid, and the mix of accessories is very nice. My only complaint, and the reason that I rated the mixer as "Average" is that the shield guard, which I was excited to use especially for the dry ingredients, doesn't work. It's like no one tried using it after making it. The guard doesn't stay on the bowl, so it's more to try keeping it on while pouring ingredients. Why does this matter so much? Because it makes me question the quality of the rest of the mixer and accessories and put a sour taste in my mouth.
