Rated 5 out of 5 by Becca05 from Love this type of carafe We have had our coffee pot for 10 years it's still as good as the day we brought it home. It's been thru 7 moves, one being international, and the only thing, is that the o-ring on the lid just fell off. I love that the Carafe is stainless because it will keep the coffee warm the entire day without being left on.

Rated 3 out of 5 by AKADriver from O-ring is replaceable I had the leaky-lid problem and was disappointed to find that the lid was not sold separately. An 11/16" ID x 1/8" thickness (or 18mm x 4mm) 10-cent nitrile O-ring replaces the original nicely. A silicone one would probably outlast the rest of the machine.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Coffee on the dark side from Great Coffee Maker, Poor Carafe As others have pointed out the carafe for this coffee maker is not as well made as the coffee maker its self. The carafe that came with the coffee maker was of a slightly different design (older I assume) and worked fine but the handle on the carafe fell apart. We replaced that carafe which has the current lid design and after a few months use started to experience all the leaking issues that others have described. This carafe and the original were also both difficult to clean.

Rated 2 out of 5 by briamart from Lid won't last I really like this carafe. It keeps my coffee warm for long hours. But, the lid design is poor and not made to last. I am on my 3rd carafe, only because the lid keeps failing. On the current design, the o-ring expands over time and no longer holds the center mechanism, which means the spring can't push on the coffee basket, which means the coffee liquid can't drip out into the pot. In the past, I've discovered this in the morning when the coffee leaked all over the counter. At least now, the ring drops into the pot and I find it when I rinsing the pot. I absolutely love my KitchenAid coffee machine. I just wish the carafe would be designed to last longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Beachbum Brett from Lid broken after minimal use We love this coffee maker but the lid has failed after several months of use. Coffee all over the counter tops. Why make such a great product with such a short lifespan.
