NEW VS. REFURBISHED KITCHENAID® STAND MIXER: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
The difference between a new and refurbished stand mixer is that a refurbished KitchenAid® stand mixer has been unused or gently used and returned. After it’s inspected and restored, it’s sold for a discounted price. A certified refurbished KitchenAid® mixer comes with a 1-year parts warranty from date of purchase,3 while a new KitchenAid® stand mixer comes with a 1-year full warranty from date of purchase.4 Availability varies, so your choice of colors or accessories may be limited.
A certified refurbished stand mixer can be a great value. You’ll get like-new performance on a stand mixer that might have been returned for things like a minor flaw suffered in shipping, a (reparable) production defect, or simply because the customer changed their mind. A stand mixer that was gently used as a demo unit may also become a refurbished appliance. You can find significant savings on tilt-head, bowl-lift and mini stand mixer models. The savings are such that you might consider getting a larger capacity, refurbished bowl-lift model over a smaller capacity, new tilt-head model.
