Rated 4 out of 5 by SKJ54 from Needs two items improved beeper volume and light We replaced a 2006 Kitchen Aid microwave with one that seemed to be the most like the one we had. After installing, there was a period of learning how to utilize the new MW. However there were two complaints we had and found in other reviews that were issues. First the beeping signal was very weak even on the loudest setting. Like many users we multitask while the MW does its cycle, a louder beep would help, especially when the fan is on high. The second problem and very much an issue, was the hood light illuminating the stove top (also a Kitchen Aid). the light was changed to a single panel LED with a glass lense. The old one had two halogen lights, one on each side. I replace the bulbs with compatible LED bulbs after the first one failed. That provided sufficient light to cook with. This new one KMM230RPS uses a LED strip, which is ok, but the lense opening severely restricts the light from that light box. I checked all of the replacement lense metal panel & lenses and found this was a unique item and not available to replace. I wanted to try modifying one I bought, but finally modified the original cover. I cut away all of the metal that covered any of the light box opening and cut a polycarbonate panel to cover the larger opening. This easily provided twicw the light for the stove top. It would be wonderful if Kitchen Aid would make this minor change available for this model. The roughly 2.25" by 10" metal/glass panel would be very easy to replace with one screw. How your engineer/designers take a look at this annoying issue that others observed too. My wife wanted me to remove the MW and return it because of this problem, fortunately a little metal working and polycarb cutting made it acceptable1

Installed it myself in about 40 minutes (including reading the instructions) The easy clean interior is truly easy clean. Splatters, and exploding carrots wipe right off. Exhaust fan is a tad noisy, but at initial test with fan on high, it tried to lift a paper towel from the cooktop surface. The only issue so far has been the alarm/notification volume. The tone is so low that I believe anyone with hearing loss would not be able to hear it at all.

There was NO TONES coming from microwave at all from day one, also the light under the microwave to light up the cooktop is not bright enough even on high. The exhaust fan is noisier the my 19 year old kitchenaid microwave. And no instructions on how to use the control panel.

We have had success with the KitchenAid brand, so it felt right to welcome another into our home. While we don't have a picture-worthy chef's kitchen, this addition has made our tiny space a little brighter. In fact, the no-handle design of the door somehow makes our small kitchen feel less crowded. We've been pleased with the selection of features and thankful that we don't need advanced degrees in a technology field to operate it. It heats evenly, has plenty of space for larger items, and is a breeze to clean. Since we don't have a huge space, we appreciate the gentle signal that it's job is complete - no one needs to be startled while boiling water or using knives!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sheilala1 from Needs a louder beeper tone option. This is our second KitchenAid microwave. Our first one lasted 20 years. However this one we can barely hear the tone/beeper when something is done or when using the timer. Even setting it on the loudest function you can barely hear it. That's a problem because we're both hearing impaired so I can't tell when the microwave is done. The other issue is that there was no real owners manual for how to use the controls, I had to look online for that and I had to look very hard to find anything so I wish it would've come with the unit. Other than that it looks very nice and is easy to use. I really wish the sound could be made much louder to know when food is done or when setting a timer. I did some searching online to see if there was a way to make it louder and there’s nothing.
