Worth waiting for
I am 69, live in a manufactured home. I have had to replace all fixtures, appliances, etc, because they use the cheapest when manufacturing to keep cost down. So I have slowly saved to upgrade as I can. One point was having to use counter space for a microwave and the cheep vent hood. I knew this thin microwave was my only solution. I waited and saved. Finally I got it. Installed it myself, and everything turned out great. I have it vented to the outside and could not be happier. I included a photo, not a fancy place, but to show you take time you can you make it home.

Unacceptable marketing
My microwave is nice, I like the size, works fine. The problem is that it was marketed as being whisper quiet. I bought the pricier model because of that feature. We paid to have outdoor venting installed when it was installed. It was loud. I called customer service with concerns about the noise and installation troubleshooting. The supervisor suggested that I could reduce the sound by turning off the fan. I requested service since I was sure my microwave fan was not whisper quiet. The service technician verified that installation and operation were correct but that my unit did not have the whisper quiet setting. I would like to be contacted for resolution of this problem.

UPDATE: L this microwave, but can't award 5 stars!
We bought this microwave 3 years ago. Our home is older and the cabinets are mounted too low for most of the newer microwaves. Due to the dimensions, the microwave would practically be sitting on top of my stock pot. This low profile microwave is attractive and the perfect answer for homes with this situation. However, the letters on the exterior control buttons basically wiped off! There is no way to fix this and Kitchen Aid was unresponsive to both us and the store where we purchased it. We never used a scraper or harsh cleaning products on the buttons. Please find a fix for this Kitchen Aid .... it is perfect otherwise.

Beautiful appliance, but some issues
We bought this appliance in July '22. After about five months of use, we noticed that the text on the "Open" button seemed to be wearing off. By six months, the text was completely gone, and the text on the "Start" button was starting to fade. While the unit is still functioning beautifully, this is a bit problematic since there are three buttons aligned one over the other and now you can't tell them apart. It's a beautifully styled, attractive appliance which has the bonus of allowing tall people to easily see to the back of the range, but I really did expect a little more durability from a Kitchen Aid product.

Not True KitchenAid Quality
We have owned 3 Kitchenaid Microwaves (and two fridges, and oven) over the past 20 years, and they have always had amazing quality and warranty. This microwave was less than 6 months old and the lettering starting to come off! I called Kitchenaid, and was told that this was considered "cosmetic" and I would have to replace at my own expense. Absolutely unacceptable! This is clearly a manufacturer defect, and it makes our "high end" appliance look cheap and low quality. Truly disappointed in KitchenAid.

Ventilation is NOT Whisper Quiet as Advertised
I love the hood size and the design of this Low Profile Microwave Hood Combination. I also like its functions. However, its ventilation fan is supper loud!!! According to the Decibels' Meter APP I have on my phone, the sounds of the descending speeds of the vent are about 80db, 78db, 76db, and 74db. Knowing that a whisper is about 30db, normal conversation is about 60db, and a motorcycle engine running is about 95db, this ventilation fan is not near being Whisper Quiet as Advertised. So when cooking, I only run it on its lowest speed to be able to withstand its noise. In addition to that major issue, the microwave makes a humming noise as it starts running.

Does not exhaust well
I have this microwave set up to exhaust vertically to the outside. It has been set up correctly per instructions (because it come from the factory to return exhaust into the kitchen through filters) so it is configured to exhaust externally. There is exhaust air coming out of the top of the microwave and back into the kitchen. House smells like smoke. This is supposed to have 500cfm, which is a lot if it actually does that. Trying to call Kitchenaid to get help is a dead end, very difficult to get through. Pacific Sales salesman convinced me this exhaust system work great. It does not. I rated it one star because I chose it because it had an exhaust fan.

Not worth the money!
I was excited when I first bought this low profile microwave as I liked the overall aesthetics and fit well with my kitchen appliances. I did not expect that in less than 3 years, this very expensive appliance would come apart! The buttons to open the door and to turn on came apart. Per the technician, the attachment (which is made of plastic), connected to the buttons inside the panel, snapped off. The entire panel cost over $200! So, after all said and done, service and the parts cost over $300, ridiculous! It is not worth paying over $800 for a microwave, lessons learned!

Design flaw
I bought this product 11 months ago withing 6 months the identification labels have worn off of the "open" button and the "fan" button. Upsetting that a $700+ microwave would have such a poor design. I called the store where I purchased the item, they asked me to call KitchenAid customer service. Customer service got me to someone who set up an appointment for a technician. The technician could do nothing for the problem, it is a design flaw. It's sad that KitchenAid cannot correct this issue or have a work-around for the end user. This issue has me doubting the perceived quality of a KitchenAid product.

Didnt work from day one
We bought this and when it was installed, It wouldn't turn on, completely dead. We waited for the store to call us back so we could have it exchanged. We called at least 6 times and finally they sent out a repairman. The repairman said he had to order all new internal parts. We waited and nothing happened for 3 weeks. The store where we bought it said they were waiting on KitchenAid to make a decision on whether to replace it or not. Finally the store replaced it and said when our old one was repaired they would use it as a used demo.
The new one works fine but we had to wait for so long to get any action at all. I am disappointed in both the store and KitchenAid for such slow action.
