Setting up your espresso machine for the first time

how-to-KF2-1
1

Give the main parts a quick rinse

Before first use, remove the water tank, drip tray and steam wand, and rinse them in warm water. Dry them fully, then slot everything back into place.

how-to-KF2-2
2

Place water filter and test water hardness

Install the filter into the tank using the mounting aid at the other end of the scoop. If you're not using a water filter, test the hardness of your water with the testing strips. You can enter that level into your machine (see manual for instructions).

how-to-KF2-3
3

Fill the water tank

Next, fill up the water tank to the max line with fresh water from the tap, slot it into place and close the lid.

how-to-KF2-4
4

Switch on and automatic rinse

The machine will run a rinse through the dispenser each time you turn it on and off. Rinsing pre-heats the system for the ideal brewing temperature, then flushes away residue afterwards. Just remember to place an empty 0.7 L (24 oz) container under the dispenser to catch the rinse water.

how-to-KF2-5
5

Fill the bean hopper

Pour your favorite beans into the bean hopper, or add pre-ground coffee to the dedicated chute next to the hopper. Put the lid back on.

how-to-KF2-6
6

Purge with 4 espresso shots

For the first use, make 4 espresso shots and discard them, to flush everything through before making your first drink. Now you're ready!

Get to know your home espresso machine

You'll soon have the hang of your new machine, it's simple to use and will quickly become part of your day. Let's get to know the different parts.

1.8 L water tank and filter

Makes at least 16 espresso shots¹ in a single fill.

get-to-know-KF2-5

Drip tray

Say goodbye to spills – the tray catches them. It even has an 'empty me' reminder when it gets too full.

get-to-know-KF2-6

Panarello auto steam wand

The auto steam wand works by pulling air into the milk during steaming, producing a smooth, velvety microfoam. A foam density toggle on the side of the steam wand lets you adjust the texture for each type of unique drink.

get-to-know-KF2-7

Water hardness test strip

Use this to test for the hardness of the water, which can affect the taste of the coffee. This can then programmed into the machine.

How do I make my first drink?

Now for the best part – your first drink. It’s wonderfully intuitive, so you’ll feel at home straight away. Just follow the steps below and you’re off.

6

For milk, first preheat and purge

7

Fill your pitcher... then steam

Fill your milk pitcher (not included) with milk, leaving room for the milk to expand during frothing. Submerge the tip of the steam wand below the surface of the milk. Steam milk to desired temperature. Then enjoy!

What can I make with my espresso machine?

You've got your very own café counter at home. From a rich espresso to a velvety cappuccino, there’s a whole line up waiting. With the steam wand, you can froth and texture milk your way, opening up even more possibilities. And that’s just the start. Play around with syrups, switch up the milk, add a dash of spice or try it over ice. It’s your menu now.

How to clean and care for your machine
