Puff Pastry Waffles with Whipped Cream

Serving
2

Ingredients

1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

2 Tablespoons sugar

1/4 cup sour cream

1 cup chilled heavy cream

Fresh fruit, for serving

1 (17.3-ounce) package frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed

Step by step

  1. Preheat the KitchenAid® Waffle Baker.

  2. Unfold the two sheets of puff pastry onto a lightly floured work surface. Using a rolling pin, lightly roll out each sheet of puff pastry to seal together any perforations in the dough, and then use a sharp knife or pizza wheel to cut each pastry sheet into a 7-inch circle so it fits inside the Waffle Baker. (Scraps can be re-frozen or baked as needed.)

  3. Lightly grease the Waffle Baker with cooking spray then place one of the puff pastry circles into the center. Close the lid and bake the puff pastry for about 8 minutes until it’s golden brown and cooked throughout. (Cook the second puff pastry circle in the opposite side of the Waffle Baker.) While the waffles are baking, make the whipped cream.

  4. For the whipped cream

  5. In the bowl of a KitchenAid® Stand Mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip together the heavy cream, sour cream, sugar and vanilla extract on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.

  6. Top the waffles with the whipped cream and a spoonful of fruit. Serve immediately.
