Ingredients

1 teaspoon sesame seeds

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup mashed potatoes

2 large eggs

7 tablespoons butter, softened

4 cups bread flour

2 tablespoons sugar

1 package active dry yeast

1 cup milk (warmed, plus extra for brushing)

Step by step

  1. Combine ¼ cup warmed milk, yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar in a small bowl. Let stand for 5 to 7 minutes or until mixture foams.

  2. Attach dough hook to KitchenAid® Stand Mixer. Add remaining sugar, flour and butter to mixer bowl. Turn to speed 2 and add yeast mixture, remaining milk, eggs, potatoes and salt. Mix for 5 minutes or until dough forms a ball on hook and cleans sides of bowl.

  3. Place dough in a greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. Preheat oven to 425°F. Lightly grease a baking tray or line with parchment paper. Punch dough down and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a slightly flattened ball. Place on prepared tray. Brush with extra milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Let rise 30 minutes or until rolls have doubled in size.

  5. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until browned. Remove from baking tray and cool 10 minutes on wire rack. Serve warm.
