Ingredients
1½ cups boiling water
2 tsp. vanilla
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1 egg white
½ cup milk
1 cup malt powder
½ tsp. sea salt
⅓ cup Dutch cocoa powder
¾ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup light brown sugar
1 cup pastry flour
Step by step
Set the Smart Oven+ Attachment base pan with heating element and Steamer Water Basin Pan on the oven rack. Fill Water Basin Pan with 4 cups of water; cover with Lid and place in oven. Select STEAM mode and preheat for 10 minutes.
Coat a 2-qt. baking pan with cooking spray.
Whisk together flour, both sugars, cocoa and salt in large bowl. In separate bowl, combine malt powder, milk, egg white, butter and vanilla. Whisk until thoroughly combined. Fold milk mixture into dry ingredients and spread into prepared dish. Pour boiling water over batter, cover with foil and place on Perforated Steamer Tray. Set Tray in Water Basin Pan, cover with Lid and place in oven.
Steam 30-35 minutes until cake springs when lightly touched. Cool 30 minutes before serving. Serve with whipped cream if you like
