How to set up and make your first drink

Get excited to make your first espresso! Once you’ve filled the tank with water and put in your choice of beans, you’re ready to go.

Prep the machine

Add the filter and fill the water tank with water. Note: Priming pump is only used if the water tank is full and the water drop icon continues flashing. If water drop icon is not flashing continue to 'Extract your Espresso'.

Extract your espresso

Fill the bean hopper and place a basket into the portafilter. Grind, tamp and then choose your desired brew mode. Make a few test shots to perfect this.

Steam your milk

Select 'Steam' mode and fill your jug half way. Insert the steam wand at an angle and steam the milk until the jug feels hot to the touch. Then, pour it over your espresso.

Tiny bubbles in the foamed milk add texture to your latte. Depending on the drink, you can add more or less volume.

Cleaninng/Descaling mode

When it’s time to descale, the light will blink. The descaling process runs in 2 phases. It takes approximately 2 minutes for each phase and must be complete before next use.

Heating light indicator

Blinking indicates that the machine is heating up, and the light turns solid once the temperature is reached.

Dose selector

Twist the knob to manually adjust the dose amount for your basket size and desired drink size/strength.

Grind start/stop

How to clean and care for your espresso machine

To keep your espresso machine working at its best, you’ll get into a routine of care. Don’t worry, as you’ll be prompted by the indicator light when needed.

After use

Once you've made your favourite espresso drinks, give the machine a quick clean-up.

Purge your steam wand

Purge the steam wand for 2-3 seconds and wipe with a wet cloth.

Rinse pitcher, portafilter, baskets

Remove the basket, knock out the used puck and rinse. Empty out the drip tray if the level indicator becomes visible.

Every week or so, you can give the machine some attention to keep it looking smart.

Clean with dish soap

Clean the portafilter and basket with washing up liquid to help remove the coffee grains and oil build-up.

Wash the drip tray

Give the drip tray a wash to help remove milk, coffee and water deposits.

Descale the machine

Descale the machine when prompted by the blinking descale light.

Change the filter

Replace the water filter every 2 months or so. Soak and rinse the new one.

Refine the taste

If the espresso is too bitter for your tastes, use a coarser grind. If you’d like a richer taste, use a finer grind.

Buy coffee in small packs

It should be recently roasted and stored in a cool, dark, dry container.

No distilled or mineral water

Both can damage the machine. Fill the water tank with tap water and replace the filter as needed.
