Spiced Apple Butter


  • Makes 2 cups

  • 2 pounds Granny Smith or any tart apples, peeled, cored and chopped (about 61⁄2 cups)
  • 1 cup apple juice or cider
  • 1⁄4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1⁄8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1⁄8 teaspoon ground cloves


  1. 1. Combine apples and apple juice in large saucepan; bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer 30 minutes or until apples are very tender.
  2. 2. Transfer apple mixture to pitcher of KitchenAid® Torrent™ Blender. Blend on medium-high speed 30 seconds or until smooth. Return to saucepan; stir in brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.
  3. 3. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low; simmer 25 minutes or until hickened, stirring and scraping bottom and sides of saucepan frequently. Cool completely.
  4. 4. Store in airtight container in refrigerator up to 1 month.
