Rosy Applesauce


  • Makes 6 servings

  • 6 local apples, cored and diced (about 6 cups)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg


  1. 1. Combine apples, water and honey in a heavy bottom saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and cover. Cook, stirring occasionally until apples are tender, about 20 minutes.
  2. 2. Uncover, and continue simmering until most of the liquid has evaporated. Remove from the heat and add the lemon juice , cinnamon and nutmeg. Let cool slightly.
  3. 3. Place apples in blender and PULSE until apples form a smooth sauce.
  4. 4. Serve warm or chilled.
