Rated 5 out of 5 by InexplicableBill from I lucked out and actually got STAINLESS STEEL! I'm really horrified to read the reviews now that I've received my order. The one I got is correctly made from stainless steel, and I can only HOPE it does not have lead in it as someone else suggested. UGH! This item is very weighty compared to the original white coated aluminum one. All those complaining of the finish becoming tarnished or charcoal colored after one wash in the dishwasher have been sent a polished aluminum product that never should be used in food prep or put in the dishwasher. I presume KitchenAid's suppliers have been shipping aluminum ones instead of S.S., which is a travesty. KitchenAid, please stop outsourcing overseas and start making high-quality products we expect right here in the USA!!

This dough hook is awesome! The quality is so good that this will outlast the mixer itself. I will never ever have to buy a dough hook again. Due to the previous reviews I did contact customer service to verify the specifications and they were so helpful I was very impressed. Thank you KitchenAid for the assistance!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mizmuffet from Heavy, real stainless steel dough hook I bought this as a replacement for the white dough hook that came with the artisan 5 quart. My white dough hook started to peel after hitting the bowl too often. It turns out you have to adjust the mixer head lift height very so often. I’ve had the mixer for almost 20 years. This stainless steel dough hook looks like it can last a lifetime. Very sturdy and I believe it accelerated my dough’s gluten development.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Idontwantanickname from My one does appear to be solid steel but don't buy To counter some of the other reviews, I did receive a dishwasher safe stainless steel hook and not aluminum as some did. However it doesn't fit the mini kitchen aid - my bad. 1 star because of how difficult kitchen aid makes it to return items. No return form, you have to call up (at the right time) go through an absurd menu system and wait to speak to someone. And then you have to PAY the return shipping fee. Kitchenaid - get with the times. Customers - buy from a reputable retailer if you can.

I was on hold today for ONE HOUR, but my question was never answered. A man named Aaron took all of my information, then never returned to the call. I was calling to ask about an actual stainless steel dough hook, not one that is stainless steel colored like this one, but one that is actually made of stainless steel. A dough hook that won't chip, isn't made of cheap plastic, one that will last as long as my 20 year old mixer.

I've been looking to replace them with something useful for over 10 years. I'm not the only one, so why hasn't KA done anything about their crappy products??
