Rated 4 out of 5 by Loretta6 from Perfect for those small to medium jobs, and more I bought this because I needed something that would handle one carrot or a small zucchini without losing a good portion of the vegetable by sliding sideways near the end. I also didn't want to lug out my food processor. I have a large food processor but they don't do the job as well when you have smaller items. It can handle a lot if you stream them. I like the fact the the feed shoot is narrower for a more accurate slice. Also, so very convenient that it attaches to my KA mixer. Would have given this 5 stars but it doesn't handle cole slaw as well (it says it can, but that is what the larger KA slicer/shredder attachment is for, and I use that).

Rated 3 out of 5 by bj from Great item, but misleading The slicer/shredder is a great attachment. HOWEVER, be aware the term "storage case" is VERY misleading. It is nothing more than the product cardboard box with the foam packing. it is not a "case", it is no more durable than any cardboard box (beware of spills, splashes, dust and grease deposits). The box is also very large (roughly 10.5'" x12" x5") - a lot of wasted space. You can easily store the same pieces in a plastic shoe box using quilted fabric bags to protect the pieces and save space. If the shoebox fails me, I will be looking for a slim plastic storage box. Kitchenaid needs to go back to their roots of offering Quality products...

Rated 3 out of 5 by blizabethe from SLICER/SHREDDER ATTACHMENT I bought this Nov.2017 have used it twice to make coleslaw both time it does great on most of the veg.that I use but am having trouble with the cabbage I could get the large blade to work which leaves some rather large chunks of cabbage and doesn't won't to come out of the slicer/shredder attachment into my bowl it just packs tight .And I had to dig or scrap out.I don't no if I would have bought it if I had know this first .You also have to cut the cabbage up pretty small in order to feed it into the slicer/shredder .I can chop it up just about as quick and don't have the mess to clean up. So it just depends on what you are using it for .

I have trouble with my wrists, so it is so much easier than trying to use a hand grater or a mandolin. I did notice that when doing cheese you have to pop out the blade after each one to get the remainder out before doing another piece or it doesn’t push the food out as well. I haven’t tried much else with it yet, but so far it’s been fantastic and so easy to use. I also love that the package it came in also stores it. There’s a pocket to hold the instructions inside and maybe even some recipes. It’s great. As a busy mom, this is a great prep tool!

The meat grinder and this shredder attachments are the 2 that I use on a regular basis. I have only used the shredder for cheese so far and it works wonderfully. I use it to shred blocks of cheddar and pepper jack and there is little mess to clean up afterwards, just wash everything up with hot soapy water and let dry. That's a lot easier than cleaning up all the mess that I make with the box grater and quicker. My husband will actually get in the kitchen and help me when I am using or experimenting with all of my attachments, I love that.

Was a big fan of the previous version of this attachment (affectionately referred to in my house as The Cheese Mangler). Just received the new one today, and immediately gave it a wash and put it through its paces. A one pound block of mozzarella went through it quick and easy. For such a soft cheese, it shredded up well with a minimum of smearing between the blade and housing. I imagine it’ll do even better with harder cheeses. Was momentarily tempted to kick the motor up to max to see if it doubles as a cheese cannon, but the mozz is destined to become part of a pizza, so that bit of potential hilarity will have to wait for another day. Perfectly satisfied with my purchase (this is not an incentivized review). The Cheese Mangler II is on the job!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Nick the Chef from Not good for Cheese I bought the Slicer/Shredder 1 week ago and tried to shredder Extra Sharpe Cheddar Cheese and it plugged up the attachment after only a 1/2 Lb. It was very difficult trying to remove the shredder attachment from inside to clean it out.The prior style Slicer/Shredder that Kitchen Aid sold was a thousand times better. I could shred 25 lbs. of extra Sharpe cheese at one operation without plugging up the attachment as it was much stronger and had a larger opening. I would love to buy the older style if I could find one. I have returned the new one that I just bought.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NOT A HAPPY CONSUMER from Waste of Money!!!!! Do not and I mean do not purchase this item unless you want to scrub like you are scrubbing a tub. Especially if you are shredding carrots or tomatoes. It stains the inside of the tumbler that is affixed to the hub. I found this out the hard way when I was shredding carrots and it turned orange. I reached out to kitchenaid who was totally unhelpful. They suggested cleaning with baking soda or lemon juice. As expensive as this set was, it should have been stain proof. That answer to my question was totally unacceptable and Kitchenaid, who is suppose to be providing excellent products could only come up with that answer. If you have a Ninja that shreds, it is perfect, faster and not strenuous to clean!!!!!!!

It broke on a boiled potato. I know it is under warranty but the process to get it replaced is me having to call Kitchen Aid directly during their normal business hours. No online customer service help...it's 2018 and Kitchen Aid doesn't have an online warranty form?

Rated 5 out of 5 by Baldy64 from Great Shredder! My food processor of 30 years broke, and I couldn't find another I liked based on bad reviews. I looked at the Presto Salad Shooter, but decided to go with the Kitchen Aid Shredder since I had a great coupon and it was on sale at Kohl's. Since I only used my old food processor to mostly shred cheese, I bought the Kitchen Aid Shredder. I am so glad I did! It is bigger than I expected, which was a good thing. While it takes a little more time to shred things compared to a food processor, it gets the job done and works great for what I need it for. I haven't tried it for anything other than cheese, but I love it. Clean up is easy as well. This is a great item that I am very happy with!
