Rated 5 out of 5 by Kitchen Maid! from Wonderful mixer, but poor coating on flat beater.. I purchased my lift bowl mixer in 1978! It has been and continues to be a real work horse. I used it and many of the accessories frequently, all these years, without complaint. However, the coated flat beater began chipping about 20 years ago. I attempted to replace it with a beater that stated it would fit but did not, and gave up on finding one to accommodate my model number. I resorted to removing the remaining coating. It is ugly as sin, but works. That being said, I would still like to find a beater that is compatible with my K5SS model mixer. Please, advise as to how I might obtain one.

I see all the beautiful new kitchenaid mixers that have been brought to market since my purchase but mine is still going strong so I see no need to replace. And it still helps make my parker house rolls the star of the show at thanksgiving. Yes, the enamel on my blade is flaking off, too. But that only happened in last year. When I first saw it I thought it was touching the bottom, but, no it isn't. And it's getting worse. But all things give out with time. It's been 10 years after all! I'm going to get another blade and I think this is a great product. Nothing is perfect.

I attempted to purchase a replacement beater that stated it would fit but did not, about to return for the correct size.. I resorted to taking pictures of the disgusting film coating on t he stainless steel parts. It is ugly as sin, but works. I will still like to find a beater that is compatible with my K5SS model mixer. Please, advise as to how I might obtain one.

We accidentally put it in the dishwasher and it now has black residue coming off of it now. I cannot seem to find a stainless replacement to fit and i certainly do not want a coated one! Please advise.

I have had the metal one where the enamel has chipped of and now the plastic one I bought to replace it maybe just three years snapped off at the top as I was mixing. Any suggestions please?
