Wash Paddle by Hand to Avoid Chipping!
I just got off the phone after ordering a replacement paddle for my old mixer, model # KSM5PSGR. After getting the model and serial numbers, he asked when I purchased my mixer. l just laughed and told him I have no idea because it is so old. He looked it up. I purchased the mixer in 1989!!! It is almost 31 years old with the original accessories! I used it heavily for family, holiday gifts, church potlucks, and even 7 years of youth camp. I always washed my accessories by hand. I never had any problems with chipping until my daughter lived with us for 4 months and would always put it in the dishwasher. It was never the same after that. The color yellowed and the finish started looking brittle but it didn’t start chipping right away. Even in that condition it held up for a several years before starting to chip in the last year. I have had to stop using it. I have no complaints about my mixer or accessories. It is a fabulous appliance!
My only issue with Kitchen Aid is that it takes forever to get to a live person. I have tried calling several times to order the replacement paddle when it was not the holiday season but didn’t have the time to wait and had to hang up after 30 minutes. It is 4 days before Christmas and I had to wait over 45 minutes. The music only made the wait worse. After being on the phone for over 30 minutes, I contacted the virtual assistant (V.A.) online while still waiting for someone to answer my phone call. The V.A. couldn’t help and asked me if I could wait (an additional) 16 to 30 minutes to be connected with a live person by phone. My original phone call was answered before I received the call referred by the V.A. Both the virtual and live assistants were a delight to work with and extremely kind, patient, courteous and helpful.

I love mine!
I was recently given an old model of the KitchenAid, and I am using it daily! This particular paddle is so helpful when making muffins, banana bread and other sweet treats. I use it for all my mixing unless it’s baking bread. I’m wishing for a bread hook with the spatula material on the edge due to baking bread almost every day!

Beater lasted over 30 yrs, time to replace it
I came here to purchase two new beaters that will replace mine and my Mom's - both are over 30 yrs old and are regularly used. It is disconcerting to read other reviews of beaters lasting a very short time in relation to the original ones that came with our purchase! I have to wonder if it is due to newer regulations for food surfaces to be free of paints containing chemicals more than it being any type of corporate decision. I'll still jump in the bowl and buy the replacements! I do expect to use them heavily with the upcoming holidays and if I see unusual wear I will certainly come back to post a new review. For now, I'll have to give five stars for the way my beater held up over 30 yrs of use and that I love my machine. I have purchased a few attachments over the years and have thoroughly enjoyed the results I get using the food grinder in making unique hamburgers (adding fresh veggies with the meat I'm grinding such as fresh fennel with pork)

Paddles
I am looking for a paddle with the bowl scrap feature for my Pro 5 plus bowl lift mixer, Seems this is the only paddle you offer. Love my mixer use it weekly for Cookies Breads Mashed Potatoes everything that needs to be mixed but would love the bowl scrape Paddle for it

coating chipping
I love to bake and this beater is 100% essential to that process, just like for everyone who loves their mixer. I logged in hoping to purchase a new one because I, too, am having an issue with the coating of the beater chipping. It makes me sad because since quarantine, I've been baking so much more and I just noticed the chipping. After reading the reviews however, I'm very hesitant to purchase a new one if I'm just going to have the same problem going forward. My daughter's birthday is in a few weeks and I was going to bake her cake. She has a compromised immune system so ordering a cake is currently too risky. Now I'm not sure what to do.
Has anyone who's had the chipping problem been able to work around it by chance? TIA!

4.8L bowl lift coated beater
I bought this beater and dough hook about 2 weeks ago. Tried it for the first time. Don’t get me wrong it is actually a 5 star. However I gave it two stars because of the issue with my old beaters and what was available to replace them. I have a KitchenAid professional mixer that is over 35yrs old. I love it and It definitely has gotten a work out over the years. How many small appliances last over 35 yrs in this day and age. I made bread in it every week plus other backed goods. It was quite expensive when it was new. It came with the aluminum beater and dough hook. Over the years the coating were down and I would get black hands every time I touched it. Even if I picked it up to move it, it would give you black hands. Last year I had ENOUGH and called KitchenAid. They advised they didn’t sell stainless in my model. I didn’t want the enameled as it didn’t get the best reviews. I chose to wait and hoped the would eventually make a beater and dough hook in stainless for my model. So two weeks ago I was once again making bread. You guessed it, the dough hook left black all over my hands again. Enough! I immediately bought the enameled beater and dough hook. Only used it once so far but it’s great. KitchenAid, please make stainless beater and dough hook for my 4.8L bowl lift model !!
