Rated 2 out of 5 by from His third time a charm? The first unit we bought online looked like it was a refurbished unit and the frother did not work. Exchanged it for another one and after about three weeks it started tripping circuit breakers. Waiting for my third / second replacement. It's been about 1 week since I spoke with customer service and have not received it yet. Starting to wonder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really good machine This is a great machine. With a small amount of trial and error I was able to dial in great espresso. This machine heats up very quickly, the double boilers are great. The temperature gauge has a "Ready" mark on it. I wish there was a notch for the ideal temp, or at least numbers. Overall a great machine. My wife and son love their lattes and babyccinos. Great looking heavy duty machine. I look forward to waking up firing it up in the morning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic Retro design Had an espresso maker now for 10 years. A few ups mand downs which kitchen aid have always looked after. This is a machine that you should own in your life time. Makes the finest coffee you could ask for providing you use the finest coffee, bean or ground you can afford (Illy will suffice). Keep making this classic.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Issues w/ Taste of Water Overall, a good machine. This is my second one, for a second home. I was dismayed to find that the water coming out of this one tasted like 70% rubber and 30% wet dog. Am still trying to use decalcifier and hoping for the best, but so far, no luck. :( The only other thing about this machine that isn't perfect (aside from the rubber taste) is that the milk steamer could be a little beefier. It runs out of steam now and then.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful!!! My husband bought this as a Christmas gift for me and I loved it!!! Makes great cappuccinos and a great cup of coffee!!! It's not as easy as the Kitchenaid nespresso ( I have that one also) but once you get the hang of it it so worth it. Plus I get to use my own coffee beans. And it has a gorgeous look to it!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from lack of temperature control ruins an otherwise solid espress Although this espresso maker has a lot going for it, it doesn't deserve the "Pro Line" moniker without temperature control. My first impressions of the espresso maker were quite positive. Each component - from the tamp to the machine itself - felt substantial and well-made. They even included little extras like a brush for cleaning up grounds and a railing around the top of the machine so that items placed there (they recommend putting cups there for warming) do not easily fall. The only thing that seemed out of character with the high-quality build was the water reservoir, which didn't really latch into place in any way. I think this was probably an intentional design decision to make refills easier, but it seemed a little strange that there wasn't even a ridge to make it feel securely engaged. This, however, was a minor complaint in what otherwise seemed to be a very solid machine. I read through every step of the instructions before I attempted to make my first espresso. Then I referenced them again as I walked through the process. When the first attempt turned from rich brown to watery after just a few seconds, I assumed that I just needed more practice. So, I tried again and again and again for over an hour. I got a few pulls that were serviceable enough to make a mediocre latte - with the milk to espresso ratio masking the subpar espresso - but not one attempt resulted in anything close to a drinkable espresso. I read through the troubleshooting tips. When nothing in the manual seemed to work, I started looking online. I adjusted my grind. I adjusted my tamping technique. The one critical factor I could not adjust (and my main complaint about this machine) was the temperature. Although the manual and the online resources all talk about the importance of the right temperature, this espresso maker has no mechanism for controlling or even measuring the temperature of the water.
