Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disposable Appliances??? We remodeled our kitchen in 2009 with nearly all KitchenAid appliances. We have had issues with our dishwasher and last year the latch on our kitchenaid kcms2055sss microwave went bad and I was able to replace it myself. Here we are 12 months later and the microwave is producing no heat. Based on the other reviews I'm suspecting the costly magnetron is defective. Shouldn't appliances last more than nine years? The dilemma I have now is I have a custom opening to fit this size microwave and trim kit and paid a premium for this unit. It will be a costly proposition to replace this unit, assuming I find the correct size, and may have to make modifications to the opening without it looking bad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from can't get it to stop Bought this microwave 6 years ago. Performed well until now. The microwave won't turn off when I open the door. I'm sure getting a blast of microwaves can't be a healthy situation. The door switch doesn't appear to stuck but I can't see what's going on behind it. It not like this microwave gets overused with 3 people using it. The cost to repair it is most likely more than its worth at this point. As many have said before that a "high quality" brand like KitchenAid should not put out products that fail this early. Very frustrating....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor life cycle Although acquired in 2011 to match all of the other KitchenAid products that the wife wanted, the turntable broke after 3 years and now the latch is broken and we cannot retrieve the food that is inside. Have never had such difficulty with such a high priced microwave. Very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does after 6 years? I am disappointed to see all these lousy reviews but our Kitchen Aid Microwave Model KCMS2055SSS-2 has stopped working. Lights up, been a great microwave but seems young to have problems. Label shows made in Aug. 2011 bit installed later.. Double Oven, fridge and Dishwasher all Kitchen Aid. We like the appliances, features, performance and design. Freinds have bought same Series after sering ours. What is solution?

But when you pay for a microwave twice the cost of others and lasts half the time, you can't feel but disappointed. Also, I have to buy a new trim kit as this model is discontinued.

We built 7 years ago and all appliances are KitchenAid...now our microwave has decided to stop heating...very disappointing, I was expecting the microwave to last longer then 7 years. When spending the extra money on KitchenAid, I was thinking they were a higher quality product...I guess they don't make appliances like they used to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from After 8 years.....it's now tripping a breaker..... Not sure what has failed internally in our microwave but it has now resorted to tripping the breaker while running. Once reset, the microwave acts normal until you tell it to start. It will trip the breaker either immediately or within a few seconds. I realize it's 8 years old but I have an ancient radar-range at my office with LED display and turn knobs and it still functions perfectly. For as much as we paid for this microwave 8 years ago, it should still be functioning properly.
