Fig Bars

This delicious fig recipe combines dried figs with vanilla and cream cheese for a rich, flaky dessert bar.


    Makes 12 servings

    cupdried figs

    tablespoonshot water

    tablespoonsgranulated sugar, divided
  • 2/3
    cupall-purpose flour
  • 1/2
    cupquick oats
  • 3/4
    teaspoonbaking powder

    ouncecream cheese, softened
  • 1/3
    cuppowdered sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place figs, water and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar in pitcher of KitchenAid ® Torrent ™ Blender. Cover and blend on medium-low speed 30 seconds or until smooth. Set aside.
  3. Combine flour, oats, baking powder, salt and remaining 2 tablespoons granulated sugar in medium bowl. Stir in oil and 3 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball.
  4. Roll dough into 12-inch rectangle on lightly floured surface. Place dough on prepared cookie sheet. Spread fig mixture in 2 1 ⁄ 2 -inch-wide strip lengthwise down center of rectangle.
  5. Make cuts almost to filling at 1 ⁄ 2 -inch intervals on both long sides. Fold strips over filling, overlapping and crossing in center. Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into bars.
  6. lace cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla and remaining 1 tablespoon milk in clean blender pitcher. Cover and blend on medium speed until smooth. Drizzle over bars.
