Chipped in less than a year of occasional use.
I'm disappointed that this hook chipped in less than a year of light use —about once a month. Looking for a stainless steel version now.

Paint chips
It seems like everyone has had this issue: after about 18 months of light to moderate use and exclusively hand washing, the paint has begun to chip off of my dough hook too. Sincerely disappointing that this seems to have been a known issue for years and yet no product changes have been made. Hopefully mine isn’t one of the ones that is also contaminated with lead that I’ve been hearing about.

Poor quality
The paint starting chipping just over a year after purchase. If you can't get the paint to stay, why use it? I'm really disappointed.

Dough hook paint chipping
I’ve recently started using the dough hook to mix my sourdough instead of my hands. Recently I noticed when I pulled the dough off that the park had chipped off. So somewhere in my white sourdough bread dough was white chips of paint! So disappointed that a mixing tool has a chippable paint.

Chipped coating
I too have a 3.5 qt KSM3311 stand mixer and I need to replace the dough hook since it’s paint is chipping. I would like to replace it with a stainless steel one. But, I can’t seem to find one. Is one available?

Chips awful
I got my Kitchen Aid as a graduation present from high school. I’m now 30 years old and I’ve taken nothing but the best care of it. During college I was unable to use it much and after I graduated from there was excited to. I make bread often but now every single one of my attachments are chipping. My machine wiggles and shakes and will not knead dough without smoking. We have researched videos and websites and tightened the machine everywhere we can with no success. I almost want to trash it. I can knead by hand obviously but doesn’t that delete the purpose of having a bread hook to assist you to begin with? I would expect way more from a machine that cost $400. $50 per attachment is highway robbery. Shame Kitchen Aid.

paint chipping
So very disappointed that the paint is bubbling and chipping on my dough hook! Reading other reviews it seems like this has happened a LOT! I had my old one 25+ years when my son dropped it and it broke. This KA was what he bought to replace the one he broke. Now I can't make pizza dough or bread until I can get a new hook. Can't do it by hand due to an injury I had in my shoulder...

More paint chipping
My daughter loves her kitchenaid mixer . But like so many others on here I am here looking for a new dough hook because the paint has chipped off on ours and got into the food. I came on to buy a new one thinking perhaps it's our fault as we have run it through the dishwasher, but it seems people who have only hand washed have had the same experience. I can't quite believe these hooks are still available. Do you have a non coated version?

Dough hook
I bought a mixer after much debate. I spend a lot of money on the mixer. I am very disappointed that the dough hook’s paint is peeling after only six months of use. Are all the attachments going to peel? I have only hand washed it.

I am really disappointed and would like to buy a stainless steel one, but not able to find a replacement. Even the painted one is out of stock. I use my kitchen aid daily for making dough and now it is useless.

The coating is a liability
Bought a new hook in June 2021 from Amazon. The second in less than a year and it is already chipped (used 5 times). I can't believe that despite the obvious horrible quality of this hook (see the plethora of bad reviews) KitchenAid is doing nothing to address it. More over just considering a piece of coating in your pizza dough or in your cake and all of the sudden a broken tooth, if not worse, should and will trigger a lawsuit. How about just a stainless steel hook and no coating?

Disappointed with dough hook
We have had our mixer for a while, like most reviews of this product, my husband started making our bread due to Covid-19, We have had a similar experience with our dough hook and so far only the dough hook, thank goodness, but it has chipped a lot. I DEFINITELY think there is a flaw with this product to have this many people having the same problem. Very disappointed!!! I like so many others, expected a higher quality considering how expensive this stand mixer is. Please, consider correcting this
flaw and making things right with your customers. Quality companies have quality customer service.

Dough Hook - White coating is peeling off
This product is expensive, but the quality of this product sucks. The painting from the dough hook is peeling off, not sure if it happened while mixing. This is not good and also reading the reviews on stainless hook makes me think why I chose to buy this product. The product quality needs to be improved to make the customer happy.

While I do love my kitchenaid mixer I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the coated hooks. Both of mine have started chipping And have ruined multiple batches of dough. And when I contacted kitchenaid they were less than apologetic and simply told me that the coating was not harmful if swallowed. They did not offer a replacement or try to rectify the situation in any way. It’s one thing to make a faulty product. It happens to the best companies. It’s another thing entirely to not make it right with the customer. I’m extremely disappointed in my experience. I really expected better.

C-Dough Hook inferior quality
We received our Kitchenaid Artisan mixer as a gift from my in-laws. We love the mixer, but like all these other review, the dough-hook chipped after just a few users and my wife no longer wanted to use it (rightly so) and tossed it. I came here looking for a replacement, but have decided it must be a flawed product design and will just wait or try to find a secondary market stainless version unless KitchenAid makes-good on the defect.

Poorly engineered
Coating chipped and came off. Kitchen Aid should be a trusted brand and deliver good products. I'm very disappointed with this low quality. Coating of my C-dough hook has come off. I'm not even sure if anyone actually ate or swallowed it because I couldn't find that chipped piece. Unfortunately I lost the receipt. Otherwise I would have returned it to Macy's immediately.

Terrible coating!
I replaced my last dough hook when the coating started to chip, now it's happened again, less than a year later. Kitchen Aid, this is obviously a huge, common problem and your answers aren't providing any guidance. Unacceptable!

Dough Hook chipped - I'm so sad!!!

I have the stand mixer for few years and never use the dough hook. It is because of the COVID19 I was trying to make bread myself but I have the same problem just use the 2nd time and it was chipped. I was worried the paint go to the dough and have to throw away everything. Very disappointed.

We received this as part of our artisan mini mixer as a wedding gift. We have only just opened the box to use and after placing it gently on the counter the dough hook enamel chipped. I'm looking for un-coated options for replacement and it seems there are none. Am I missing any uncoated options that are available for sale?

I make pasta at least once a week and the bottom of my hook is bare metal. WTH???!! Your products are NOT cheap and this really disgusts me.
