While we generally like this fridge, we are a little concerned that the ice-making sensor has already needed replacement after less than 2 months of use. We would have liked a couple of additional shelves as well and will have to order and pay extra for them.

My favorite feature is a bit silly, but it's my fav....when you open the door, the LED lights go from light to bright. Kinda has an affect of someone singing "Ahhhhhhh". Anyways the only bad thing about it is when it makes new ice there is one loud bang every time. The rest of the ice making cycle is quiet. I actually love my fridge! Love the counter depth too. It's not big enough for a family, but perfect for after the kids move out!

We bought the counterdepth refrigerator so it would fit into our kitchen but we haven't had any problems with this refrigerator. It doesn't fit as much food as we were used to but actually it turned out to be a good thing.
Ice maker works well, no problems with that and the water is very good. No aftertaste at all.

All the previous KitchenAid products I've purchased in the past proved excellent with all the features. This is the first time, though, that I purchased a KitchenAid appliance through the contractor who built my house. The model, KitchenAid® 35 1/2-Inch, 24 Cu. Ft. Counter-Depth Side-by-Side Refrigerator, fit perfectly in the design of the kitchen, but I was unprepared for how noisy it would be and how small the bin spaces were for the fruits and vegetables. Although this fridge was installed with the filter included, it only lasted for four months instead of six. The identical replacement filter would not fit into place without water leaking, so I had to have a tech come to install it. (The cost for this was covered by a warranty.) Also, one must be careful to have a wide mouth container when using the device to get ice, otherwise pieces may fly out to the floor. I gave it three stars because the freezer works great and the fridge maintains a steady correct temperature as indicated by the built-in thermometer.

I have owned this product for about 8 months now, and have some initial and follow up observations. When the fridge first arrived, we were in a panic as to where we were going to put our frozen foods. The space is much smaller than our old fridge and there were only 3 shelves, which left high unused spaces between. We ordered, and paid for, a 4th shelf (they are not all the same depth by the way) and it made a big difference. We can now fit our frozen items comfortably with little wasted space. The ice maker is puny. Both in capacity and output. We are only 2 people and it can not keep up. I have to run it on "Max Ice" option 1/2 of the time. I have already lowered the freezer temp by 4 degrees to try and compensate, but still not enough ice. It is the noisiest ice maker I have ever heard. When we first got the fridge the noise of the ice maker would wake us up in the night, that's on the floor below and 1/2 the house away. Our guests who are cooking with us in the kitchen jump whenever the bin fills. The fit and finish, particularly of the interior is a bit lax. The Kitchenaid emblem inside the fridge was applied slightly crooked. I just think they take little pride in their assembly process. Well OK, this fridge didn't cost $8000 and it does the job (except for the puny ice maker). The filter systems are good and easy to change, and there are a lot of innovative features such as LED lighting and no real need to vacuum under the fridge to clean the coils.

I like some of the modifications that have been made since the last model, however I do not like the smaller bottom crisper - is too small. The top crisper doesn't extend out all the way and the inside wall tends to sweat. The improvement to the ice maker is better, but the ice in the door still gets stuck together. I wish there were more adjustable options with the shelving. When the compressor comes on, it is noisy.
