30-Inch 4 Burner Downdraft Gas Cooktop, Architect® Series II is rated 4.0455 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Looking High End Cook Top This KitchenAid® 30-Inch, 4-Burner Downdraft Cooktop is a great looking cook top. The down draft exhaust fan works extremely well. The burners are electronic start and gas operated with great heat control. The only thing I do not like about it is that the Black Mirror Finish is extremely hard to clean, you would think that Kitchen Aid would make a product that the top shiny black glass finish can be easily wiped off with a mild detergent or a product like Windex. I hate to see what it will look like in 5 years of use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This cooktop was listed as stainless steel; the only stainless steel is around the edges, everything else is black. While it performs well, our complaint is that the grid plates for the burners are shiny black enamel with slick surfaces. The pans we use tend to slide off the burners due to the slick surfaces of the burners. The burner grates should have a rougher finish so the pots will not slide off. This design flaw needs to be corrected.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The stove top has already developed a crack. I love the design and features of this cook top. It is everything we had hoped for it to be. BUT, it has already developed a hairline crack from the fan dial to the edge of the cook top. We have used the stove less than 20 times, and it is VERY disconcerting to have a crack in it already. We are seniors, and are VERY careful with our appliances. It is obviously a design flaw.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very attractive cooktop. Many features have serious issues. The cooktop is very attractive, but only before its first use. However, that is my first complaint - it is extremely difficult and time consuming to clean. After nearly every use, all of the components need to be removed, cleaned using separate protocols and then reassembled – a process that takes no less than 15 minutes. The black glass is especially hard to clean, and the position of the knobs makes it impossible to clean around them without removing the knobs and the rubber seals. It also took many weeks of experimentation to determine that the only way to avoid streaking was to finish with a microfiber towel (no other material works). It would have been helpful if the instructions had said that. Second, after only a few uses, the porcelain surface on the cast iron grates began bubbling off. In addition, due to the glossy surface and the fact that the grates have an overall convex shape, some pans have a tendency to slip off the sides – a very dangerous proposition. As for cooking, I don’t find any of the burners to have a high enough BTU rating to boil water in a satisfactory amount of time (nor keep a big pot of pasta boiling properly) – the maximum burner is only 15,000 BTU. And here’s something that makes things worse – when the downdraft exhaust is on, it pulls the flame so strongly to one side, that the opposite side of the flame almost doesn’t exist! This makes for unacceptably uneven cooking. I checked the internet for other reviews of this cooktop to see if I was the only one who had similar problems – far from it. All of the problems I have experiences are common. I’ve come to the conclusion that this cooktop is just for looks and isn’t a serious cooking device. Before I just throw this out and spend a lot of money buying another brand , I thought I would check and see if there was anything KitchenAid was willing to do. They made it very clear that they weren't willing to do anything regarding my dissatisfaction with this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The fan makes the gas burn inconsistently When the downdraft fan is on it causes the flame on the burners to burn inconsistently. The flame burns towards the flame, making the heating inconsistent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For the most part we really like the cook top Since we purchased our last down-draft cook top 15 years ago, this is a vast improvement. If you want ease of use get one of those electric flat panel cook tops. If you want a real gas cook top this is a good drown draft model. Many people complain that the down-draft reduces the heat for cooking. But the Kitchen Aid has made some improvements that really makes this a very good cook top. The surface is both very easy and hard to clean. It shows dirt and water spots and your really need to avoid getting grease even close to the control knobs. But the sealed burners make it a vast improvement over my old cook top. If you have limited space, and really want a gas cook top and you need a down draft model, I would recommend this cook top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quite pleased with our Kitchen Aid choice. I hada gas stove when I first married years ago. Throughout the years the houses that we've had all came with electric stoves. It is such a pleasure to come full circle back to gas cooking. The downdraft feature is absolutely wonderful. It was a little more challenging to have this system installed but worth every bit of it. Yes it is a little more difficult to keep the black perfectly clean but the look is just superb.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice color Very unhappy with this appliance. Burners cook very, very slowly and very hard to clean up...... Huge waste of our money.
