Uneven heatingThe front left burner is where I cook most. Unfortunately, the element heats unevenly, so food burns on the bottom of the pan in one area on the right side. The burner was replaced once by the appliance dealer to correct this problem. The replacement burner does exactly the same thing. It is also very slow to boil a pot of water. Even if I put a lid on the pot, it take ~20 minutes to boil. I also find the graphics for the dials difficult to see. They are so tiny and without adequate contrast against the black glass. I wish I had coils again instead.

Very disappointingWe replaced our old Jenn Air down draft with this new cooktop. It looked beautiful in the kitchen. However, one of the knobs had to be replaced within a week of installation. The heating elements on the large burners are very uneven, with medium setting being very high heat. It is impossible to clean-even for water that has boiled or splashed over. I have tried every cleaning product available for this type of cooktop, even home remedies such as baking soda and hot towels. Nothing removes the food stains/debris except scraping very carefully with razor blades, which leaves tiny scratches. I would never recommend this product. I spend hours trying to get it clean, and once it is clean I dread cooking again for fear of something spilling or splashing.

hard to clean - bad filter designWe had an older version of the ceramic top cook top with a circular filter - we liked the older version much, much better. The grease filter on this version is terrible, the removable filter is supposed to lean across the downdraft opening but does not properly sit within the space designed and constantly falls to the bottom. As grease is pulled into the filter area after the filter falls it naturally falls to the bottom of the unit. I have to reach my arm in past my elbow to try to clean the grease build up in the bottom. My husband's larger arm won't even fit, so he couldn't clean it if he wanted to. The filter design is flawed.

Worst cooktop everrecent kitchen remodel. replaced all appliances with the Kitchen Aid Architect series - not cheap. Love the oven/microwave convection combo. Love the fridge with platinum interior. Halfway love the three tier dishwasher except it won't fit my Tervis tumblers on top and plates on bottom during the same wash. But the worst part is this downdraft cooktop. Used it one time to fry bacon and it is pitted with tiny cloudy dots. I have used the cleaner provided and followed directions but it will not erase the pits or clean up nicely. If I could do it again, I would go back to coils. I do NOT recommend this to anyone. If I could, I would pull it out and replace with coils. Nowhere in the instruction booklet provided did it recommend cookware. I looked on the internet and used my Calphalon (as suggested) for the ONE TIME I cooked on it. I'm going to research and find different cookware that might work better. DO NOT BUY THIS COOKTOP!!

Cooktop Cleaning IssueWe bought this cooktop 3 months ago and I love the way it heats up so fast but the clean up is an issue with me. If anything spills on the cooktop when cooking and needs to be cleaned up it takes me 20 minutes to clean it up after the burner cools down. I am using the cleaning product that was supplied with the cooktop. Even using that cleaner doesn't get all the residue off. Totally disappointed with this cooktop due to the clean up issue. I would rather have a cooktop with the coils agains. May have to get a gasline installed and purchase a gas supplied cooktop. To bad we spent so much money on this one.

Works as described but...I would only recommend this cooktop in a situation where a builtin downdraft is required. Unfortunately it vents to the outside and allows outside air to come back into the house through the downdraft. So cold air comes through in the winter and hot air in the summer. Not good on heating and cooling bills! The fan is also fairly noisy.

CooktopThis looks very pretty initially, but it is hard to clean. I see every speck of dust on it, which drives me nuts! I haven't had it very long, so am not sure what it will be like a year from now. I feel like I'm cleaning it constantly, because it shows everything. It cooks great though!

Good Product Easy to UseLove the cook top, just wish it had lights at each element so you knew which one was hot. Other than that, it works really well and is easy to keep clean and looks sleek and nice in our island.
Only one problem with an element that burnt out in two months, not sure why. But Kitchen Aid had repaid done in a week and was very happy with the results.
I would recommend this item for any kitchen, but if you have kids that cook, just be aware that it is glass and can break and they need to be careful.
