I've had this can opener for 2 weeks, and it doesn't work properly at all. It seems to "skip" when I'm trying to open a can.

I had my old can opener 20 yrs plus but it was getting hard to use so I got me one of these fancy looking new ones so I put my old one in the trash (it would still work). I used my new pretty one for three weeks, no more than I cook it worked great then yesterday I tried to use it and it won't even put a hole in a can much less open one, so I got another can and tried again. No luck, can't get a can opened at all. NO GOOD DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS TRASH!

I bought this can opener because I thought it looks sturdy and beautifully designed. Used it for a few weeks (not heavily used) and then it can't open a can. It seems like it is too flimsy and won't punch a hole in the can. I had to revert back to my 19 year old Ekco can opener.

Rated 1 out of 5 The handles stripped out on the first can we tried to open.
Please save your money. This can opener is a worthless. The handle stripped out on the first can we tried to open. We paid $12 for this junk in hopes of buying a good product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Cook2013 Poor design, difficult to open most sizes of cans.
I was only able to use this product for a short time before I replaced it with a cheap model from another company. This can opener looks good but does not work well at all. How could it pass any pretesting trials before being released on the unsuspecting public???

Rated 1 out of 5 by CharlieV Turns smooth...but doesn't open cans
Very well made, nice handle, but every time I try to open a can, it runs off the lip of the can and has to be restarted. Made chili last nite and it involved opening 10 cans...what torture!! I have a Kitchen Aid Mixer that I love, but this just doesn't work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by DennisDw Design and performance are lacking in this can opener
Quality of engineering is poor. The two worm gears that would be engaged when the handles are gripped closed do not operate. The can opener failed on its initial attempt to open a 5.5 ounce canned tuna container. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Swing-Away makes a durable hand operated can opener that is serviceable with a five year warranty and utilitarian design that can be placed in a cabinet drawer. It does what you desire and pay for.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Judy0114 Poor Product
This can opener is very nice looking but it does not work well. I bought the red one in October, 2013 and it lasted approximately two months. The gears would not engage on a can when the handles are gripped in the closed position. My old Swing-a-Way can opener lasted for many years and when I needed a new one, because I thought KitchenAid was a reputable name, I bought this one. Not a good choice. It is a very poor product and I wasted my money!
