Rated 5 out of 5 by Dj345 This mixer makes me want to bake, and I am teaching my husband to bake bread.
Now we can bake more bread than we could mix up in the five quart mixer, and I am teaching my husband to bake bread, which has turned out to be a fun thing for us to do together. We are both very pleased with the machine. It mixes much smoother and easier than the five quart mixer which I replaced because of the larger volume. We always make whole wheat bread, sometimes with a sourdough starter/sponge from the night before and the machine can handle a lot of whole wheat dough without straining. It is very convenient to leave the sponge in overnight and just add the other ingredients in the am. We are using this machine much more than the five quart and made the best mashed potatoes (quite a few) at Thanksgiving in the 8 quart. It is easy to handle, and has improved both our confidence levels, even though I am an experienced bread baker, and my husband is just learning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by bakinggrandma20 Love it.
I really like it. I would like a timer. The bowl is a little hard to attach. It"s very easy to keep clean. Don 't know why it has to click when it's mixing. Hope it is ok. One thing I really like, it makes no mess.

I have a 6 qt KA and just got the 8 qt. The only difference is the bowl is deeper, same circumference (but unfortunately my 6 qt lid won't fit as the 8 qt has a rolled edge). I didn't notice anything better when making 2 loaves of whole wheat bread. Same mixing ability.
A BIG problem is that there is no splash guard available for this and flour splashes all over. The 6 qt splash guard fits the bowl but because the bowl is so deep, there isn't enough clearance to raise the bowl with the splash guard attached. AND the bowl is so deep and goes up so high next to the mixer that you can't add ingredients without stopping and lowering the bowl. KA you need to make a splash guard/way to add ingredients while mixing!!!! It's a real defect!
One other minor problem and I don't know if my mixer is defective or it's by design, but the bowl is VERY hard to click into place. I need to practically jump up and down to get it into place.
Also, I understand the 7 qt is identical in every way, $100 cheaper. You can get the 7 qt, buy an extra 8 qt bowl, and have two bowls for the same price as buying the 8 qt. Stupid of my not to know this before i bought my 8 qt

Rated 3 out of 5 by Kakies We purchased 2 of these. One is woring still, the other is broken.
We purchased 2 of these stand mixers. After much research on stand mixers, we decided to go with this brand and model vs Hobart. One of the mixers is currently running great. The other arrived in what seemed to be ok condition, however made a clanking noise which we thought was the beater hitting the bowl. Did the adjustment, but still heard the noise. Soon after the mixer started to get louder, and so we tested it without the attachments and found that there was definitely something wrong. We are in the process of sending it back. We are really hard on our equipment and this is a real acid test. All in all we are satisfied with the product. At least for now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kevek I love my KitchenAid!
My KitchenAid 8 quart mixer is always there for me, always ready to adapt to what I need, and to perform with power and grace. I love my KitchenAid mixer, it is the most used appliance in my kitchen, and therefore the most important.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ldygatsby Large batches of dough are no problem!
I am a professional baker and I am using this mixer to make batches of croissant and brioche doughs. I am tough on mixers and so far this machine has held it's own. I am achieving proper dough development without overworking the dough as I have in the past with smaller machines. I am very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChefDar Love Kitchen Aid Mixers
I have used Kitchen Aid mixers all of my life. They are an awesome product. I really like this mixer for it's bowl size and it seems to be much quieter than the mixer that I had previously (also Kitchen Aid). However, the only draw back of the nice large bowl, it is sometimes awkward to put the whisk or paddle in. You have to put the bowl on first and lock it in, and then attach your paddle. Not as easy as the earlier versions of this mixer. Other than that, I love this mixer and all the work that it does!
