Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pouring shield is worthless I bought the mixer (it is my second Kitchen Aid) in December. I love the mixer, but the pouring shield does not do the job. It comes out of place, lands in the mixing bowl and each time I use it, end up with a mess on my counter. It doesn't do the job. It seems like KA did not test this product before putting it out there. The old, whole piece pouring shield did the job. KA, please go back to that model and get ride of this pouring shield.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from useless shield I just got an artisan mixer with the shield; unfortunately the shield is not shielding the kitchen from whatever is in the mixer...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible disappointment! I was excited that my new Artisan came with this shield, but after many attempts to use it, I'm ready to throw it away! I have never made as a big a mess making cookies as I did every time I tried to use this shield. Not only does it throw the dry ingredients all over the counter, you have to take this big heavy mixer over to the sink, turn it on its side to shake off all the flour, then wipe it down. It's very inconvenient to stop in the middle of a recipe to clean up. I am very disappointed and would not recommend this accessory to anyone!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Real Bummer I wish I would have read these reviews before buying this, like everyone says, it just sits on the bowl, no snapping in place at all. unless you hang on to it while pouring, Look out! and get ready to clean up the mess.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Doesn't fit. Chute too short to do any good. Opening in back too wide causing ingredients to fly out. Cost way too much to be unusable!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from KN256PS: The Pouring Shield with a Necessary Tweak "A Necessary Attachment that Works well when Tweaked" For my Artisan 5-bowl mixer, I initially bought the wrong model shield, KN1PS; it was too big, and I had to return it. The refurb models aren't listed, telling what model number of shield to buy, so I looked at shields that would fit any tilt-head'150' model. I read the reviews and finally bought one that fits better, the KPS2CL, on sale with a terrific savings from one seller, but this model could still use a tighter fit. Problems with shield fit could be alleviated if KitchenAid created a table, denoting all mixer models (refurbs included) that each shield fits (and keep this table updated as newer and other models are created). Alternately, KitchenAid could create a standard shield that flexes to fit all bowl sizes but with a 3-4" silicone band or something similar with stretch that hugs and adjusts the shield to securely clamp down onto the bowl in use. (Note that there is no pouring shield that fits my glass bowl, which has a very thick rim.) For my Pro 600 6-bowl lift mixer, I bought the correct-fitting pouring shield after having read many online reviews and discussions: the KN256PS, but like my Artisan shield, it did not fit tightly onto the bowl; it also just sat on top of it. In the short-term for both of my metal bowls (5 quart and 6 quart), I jerry-rigged this problem by cutting up a T-shirt and am using the bottom part of it as a band now (tightened and then clipped with a clothes pin around the shield) to hold it snugly in place until I can find something that looks more professional and aesthetically pleasing. However, this works, so I would advise that buyers keep their pouring shields.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wish I'd read reviews before purchasing I'm so sad. This thing is worthless. It doesn't stay on at all. May work as a cover, but could never use for pouring.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pouring Shield I have used the pouring shield a few times and it worked great for me with the wet mixes but with straight dry ingredients, it's exactly like people have said. I modified mine a bit to help this but then I have my own shop I can do this in. If they don't have a redesign for the pouring shield you may want to try some modifications to make it work better for what you're using it for. The 3 star rating is basically because it works for me one way but not the other. So sort of a neutral rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for those extra messy mixes. This item is good for those extra messy mixes that have lots of dry ingredients that have to be added or for really liquid mixes that tend to make a splash. Some say this item needs to be more closed and allows too much to escape unlike a previous model. I haven't used the other version but would say that if there is to be a really wide chute then maybe the back can be closed up a little more. There are two areas where material can fly out of the bowl. However, I think it is much nicer than to have nothing at all. Some say that this item doesn't fit the bowl or it falls off of the bowl when the mixer is working. I found that it fit my bowl nicely. There are tabs that go on the outside of the bowl. If you fit two tabs on the outside of the bowl and find that there is one on the inside all you have to do is slightly and gently open the shield to fit the other tab on the outside. This allows the shield to gently hug the outside of the bowl. Voilà! Yes it would be nice to have the shield almost go all the way around except for the chute but I am happy with this item. I have purchased two so far. I do think the price could be improved on since the shield does have such big opening and is so easy to break. I'm sure I'll be buying more. If this is redesigned have a wide chute is great but the wide opening in the back is not. Perhaps they could be combined somehow or the opening in the back narrowed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible design. Doesn't work very well I got the 5qt tilt-head stand mixer a couple years ago for Christmas and was so excited it came with the pouring/splatter shield. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed when the shield did nothing to keep the dry ingredients from flying out of the bowl and all over my counter and floor! I have since got the Blass bowl (which i love) and attempted to try the shield again - what was I thinking?! Flour was everywhere! The pour spout is also was too small to pour anything like sugar or flour where partials can go flying. Very poor design. They need to recreate this cover so that it not only stays securely on the bowl (both glass and metal), but close off the openings so dry ingredients don't have a chancestors of fly out of the bowl.
